Two days..... I sanded and put three coats of stain on the first day and then three coats of polyurethane with light sanding in between the next day.

It was the drying time that made it take so long. My first coat of stain was Sedona red and then the next two were chestnut.

It was a bright day so the shutter speed was fairly short. I think maybe 1/100 of a second with a f22 aperture setting. ISO 100 if I remember correctly.

What did you do for a door while it was down?

The wife and kids were out of town so I cut a couple of pieces of cardboard just a little bit too wide for the brick frame. I popped them in and had a replacement...... it stayed in place without any taping lol... it was enough to keep the bugs out and the AC in.

My front door gets pounded by the sun and it had been several years since it was last done. The first two times I did it without taking it off.... go to the extra trouble. It ends up being easier and you'll have better results. I was surprised by how heavy it was though. It's solid mahogany and I bet it weighs at least 150 lbs.

Did you make them out of 2x4s and plywood, the traditional way? I'm thinking just using plywood for the whole thing.

Gloss is the way to go if you want them as shiny as possible. When I refinished my door I used satin and it ended up having more shine than I thought it would

Yes. I made these the traditional way.

Wanted these to really show off the wood grain and I figured gloss would make it pop. Plus up the degree of difficulty. 😜

That's is sweeet! If I had the money to buy it I'd easily pay around 100$, but I do not know what all is included with it when it's finished.
Nice work man, I was just trying to think of what to do with my pipes, they just sit in an old Cherokee Indian clay bowl and look disorganized.

And I guess the right side is for your churchwardens?
