Things I Have Built

Playset I built for my grand daughter. Found a used slide in perfect condition. I plan to add a zip line from the deck next spring. 4"x6" x 12' top beam. Slide is 5 1/2' high and either 10' or 12' long.

A hobby of mine is making canes and walking sticks. I'll use any type of wood I find but I'm partial to cedar. I just started carving little wood spirits in the walking sticks. Here is my first effort. It will take some practice

A little of both. I'll sketch the general idea on the board with a pencil and then make additions and etc as I go. If I do another one as big as the fisherman again I'll lay everything out. By not doing so on this one I made some serious goofs.

I won't use plywood ever again either.

I don't have a lick of artistic talent, that's very cool. I can see how the layers of plywood would gum it up.

you've got some talent, Larj

Thanks. The canes and walking sticks are a fun way to kill a little time. I've always admired the little faces that craftsmen in the Smokies carve into the walking sticks you see for sale. Thought I'd give it a shot. I'll spend more time at it when the weather cools past the point of golf and fishing:)

You sell them??

I'd really like to say yes that I would build you one, but I seriously don't have time at the moment. I just started law school and I barely have time to eat, sleep, and shower!! Give me a few months and if you haven't found anything we can talk about it.

Hatchet sheath for a buddy. Not my best work but cranked it out in a couple of hours once it was set

In the final stages of remodeling one of my bathrooms. I took it down to the studs and did everything but the plumbing.

Edit: that's annoying. Not sure how to fix the rotated pictures.

Just a small project, I took this old airport taxi light, rewired and painted, mounted a floor flange on it and it’s basically a blue lamp for my sons man cave as a Christmas gift. He’s in the USAF and he said a couple of his buddies want me to get them one.

I wouldn't recommend doing the plumbing . No way the water stays in the tub.

Very cool.

New place opened in Johnson City called Skillville. It’s like a small warehouse that has been converted into a workshop. You pay a daily/monthly/or annual fee to come in and use whatever tools you need and the staff is on hand to help out. They are also trying to have specialized classes.

For my birthday my wife bought me a spot in a bowl carving class. Took 3 hours to make my first ever wooden bowl. Has a few rough edges but overall I’m happy with my first ever attempt.

That's pretty cool, I like the idea of that workshop too.
