You look beautiful, I don’t where you got that brown hair analogy before. Own it. I’ve learned to listen to pitches by the vocalist and let my voice be guided. Still a train wreckYep, this is me, in my 67-year-old ole lady glory. Captured by one of the guy church members who is also in all these choirs with me, on the demand (“request”) of the person in charge of the church email and Facebook thingies.
And for those who believe that you “can’t sing” - you absolutely can. It’s just learning to get rid of all the cheats that we create over time to prop up our voices, instead of just letting the power come up from our bellies, slightly modified (placing pitch) by our vocal cords, and then letting our facial anatomy (palate, sinuses) put our own individual signature on the sound.
Most of us strangle our natural voices in our throats, trying to control sounds we’re not comfortable with. Release all that muscular tension in your neck! Just open up and let it out. PS—I’d bet’ not find this in the Out of Context thread!![]()
I’ve tried worried, grumpy, scared, sad, and a couple of dozen other things, and I’ve decided that “joy” is the way to go for me.You look beautiful, I don’t where you got that brown hair analogy before. Own it. I’ve learned to listen to pitches by the vocalist and let my voice be guided. Still a train wreck. That’s okay, when I’m cooking I still feel joy singing, that’s all I care about.
Edit: I see that same joy in your face that I was talking about.
I’ve tried worried, grumpy, scared, sad, and a couple of dozen other things, and I’ve decided that “joy” is the way to go for me.
To a pretty big extent, I do believe that we CAN decide how we react to the miseries of this world (again, my belief, and I know that we can’t always will our way out of despair.) If we aren’t limited by physical (medical) limitations, can we decide to take things on differently? Why choose sadness and despair?
And in this world there's a whole lot of golden
In this world there's a whole lot of pain
In this world you've a soul for a compass
And a heart for a pair of wings
There's a star on the far horizon
Rising bright in an azure sky
For the rest of the time that you're given
Why walk when you can fly?
In almost everything you post, your joy comes through, and that’s one of the things that makes me keep coming back.Telling people to bite me is the way to go for me, so bite me. You look joyful, the world needs that.
Thank youIn almost everything you post, your joy comes through, and that’s one of the things that makes me keep coming back.
And even when you post something scared or sad, your ferocious love of life comes blazing through through the fear, and so even more, ditto to what I said above - you keep me coming back!
{{{{{Hugs}}}}} to you for keeping the positive going! We need way, way, WAY more of this these days.![]()
Is it sound like this?Yesterday, while cycling through a tunnel, I broke out into song, the opening stanza of Amazing Grace. I exited the tunnel to the stares of cyclists who had stopped at the tunnel exit to listen. I received one invitation to join a church choir and a few smiling comments from the locals.
