Third Saturday and SEC Expansion

Getting a foothold in that TV market would be hard to resist.

As a fan, why do I care whether the SEC has a team in TX "TV Market". CBS/ ESPN already cover most of the SEC games nation wide thus I can watch the game whereever Im at.

the ut v bama game isnt what is used to be anyway. Lose to Bama now and its one loss. Lose to Fla and its essentially 2 losses as they go up due to hth. its easier to overcome any out of division loss than in division.
Which is why it was an idiotic move to separate OSU and Michigan.

technically, but the bama game is the most important game of the year, every year imo

if you had to lose 1 game which do you chose - fla or bama.

lose to fla and you have to hope they stumble along the way. Twice.

lose to bama and you've gone undefeated in your div and earn a trip to Atl

there is no question of which is more important.

I'd prefer that to losing the Bama rivalry, but it would suck to rarely play the other West teams.

I think it would make the SEC championship more intriguing. Playing a team that you didn't play in the regular season for it would be cool.

then go to a 9 game SEC schedule

Would the other SEC teams be willing to do that? I'm sure most would rather get another OOC home game each year.

The issue isn't whether we would do it, it's whether the rest of the SEC would care.

important to the SEC race and important to the UT fan are 2 completely different things. If I had to pick one to win it would still be bama

I agree, I would rather lose to Florida rather than Bama. I agree with your reasoning of why florida is a more important game as well, but it is Bama and has been Bama as long as I have been alive

They would leave this game, trust me.

That being said, I would welcome Oklahoma and A&M to the SEC with open arms.

It isn't up to us fans. For the big decision makers, all the $$$$$$$$$$$ from the Texas market would probably be hard to pass up.

we're talking about Texas A&M and not the big dog Texas Longhorns. Just don't see where tamu brings much to the SEC

A rabid fan base with lots of money and a top 10 media market.

Once Oklahoma and aTm leave, Texas is all that is left out there. I think a lot of people would be more interested in the SEC, the best conference in CFB.

That would seem like the easy solution. That would save UT/Bama as well as UGA/Auburn.

Do we really need any OOC games...............since everyone is so beneath the greatness of the SEC(not being sarcastic)

I disagree.

But I also live in this dump of a state so when we lose to them I have to hear about for a whole year. But when we beat them it is all the sweeter.

They need to put it back on the 3rd. Who changed it anyway.

Dont remember who but it was back in the 90's. I liked the 3rd sat but I gotta admit that it's usually prettier up towards knox on the 4th sat just because the leaves usually start turning then.

but do they bring a huge part of that market by themselves? It kinda seems like if TN was a huge media market and people used that to prop up Vandy

I understand, its good for the AD's and thier accounting books. But as a fan of TN, why do i want to change the SEC right now? It doesn't seem worth the risk.

There are already more good teams in the SEC than any other conference, why add more, and make it that much harder for TN to win the SEC?

I definitely believe that the UT/Florida game has more significance now because 1) as other posters have pointed out it affects the season more with a lose/win when it is Florida, and 2) for recruiting purposes. How many kids do we try to recruit from the state of Alabam, and how many do we try to recruit from Florida?
