Third Saturday and SEC Expansion

This would be absolutely unacceptable, and I hope the folks running the SEC see this. Bama and Tennessee should have enough clout to prevent it.

However, if we added two West teams, there is a way to keep the rivalry and geographical balance: send Auburn AND Alabama East and move Vandy out West (making them our permanent rivals from the West division). Competitive imbalance becomes a worry, but I'd rather do that than lose our rivalry games.
Agreed.

I don't expect hat to take up for ish, but don't throw out "last call girls" with the recent track record of major sport coaching hires Tennessee has.

That's the one that rubbed me the wrong way. It's hypocritical in comparison.

The difference is that Tennessee has a vastly superior football program to A&M.

Also, nobody is looking to add Tennessee to their conference at the moment, anyways.

I have been watching and listening to UT football for over 30 years. The ONE game that I have the most passion for is UT vs. BAMA. I do hate UF, and think they are a Johnny come lately program who has gotten too cocky for thier own good. That said, while I want to beat UF every time we face them, I really want to beat BAMA more. There is just too much of a storied rivalry between these two programs to just let it fall by the way-side.

Oh, and someone needs to give Slive a map and geograpy lesson. TX and OK are not in the SOUTHEAST. 12 teams are enough for any conference. If we were to expand the conference, I would rather see us take a couple of teams like GA TEch and USF.

That would present another problem. While most of AU's historical rivals are in the East (the one exception being Alabama), most of Bama's historical rivals are in the West (the exception being Tennessee, and UGA to a much lesser extent). Bama has long-running rivalries with LSU, Ole Miss, and MSU (MSU is our most-often played rival).

Sure. I'd like to play in football. And that means nothing. No matter how bad I, as a fan, want to, it isn't going to happen. You know that. Why bring it up?

You are sounding more ridiculous every post you make.

That made me laugh.

If Auburn came east, would you rather play Auburn and Tennessee or LSU and the Mississippi teams?

Not as ridiculous as the assertion that we're not a better program currently in just about every single major sport than Tennessee.

But then again, "we're the girl at last call".

Get over yourselves.

Louisiana isn't either, really. Arkansas, probably isn't considered south east either.

Get over yourself. You all play little brother to Texas and you have the thinnest skin ever. I've been quite complimentary of Texas aTm. I cheer for them against the other Big 12 teams. You can tell you came here to argue. We are Tennessee. You are Texas aTm. No matter what you say, Tennessee is a bigger deal in CFB. Bottom line. Doesn't mean you all are bad. You aren't.

I would certainly rather keep AU and Tennessee, but I'd be really hacked if we stopped playing LSU every year.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd have to think that choosing between Auburn/Tennessee and LSU/OM/MSU would be a really easy decision.

If you're so superior, take your 22,000+ post to your teams board!

That would seem like the easy solution. That would save UT/Bama as well as UGA/Auburn.

If the SEC decided to keep a permanent opponent in a 12-team conference, I think the game that saves it is UF-LSU. That's become one of CBS's biggest games on the schedule every year, one that they usually use for their one doubleheader/primetime option.

A nine-game conference schedule is the solution, but I just can't see the SEC schools giving up a yearly cupcake payday for another conference game.
