Third Saturday and SEC Expansion

Do we really need any OOC games...............since everyone is so beneath the greatness of the SEC(not being sarcastic)

It is good to dominate other conferences, coughBig10orwhateveritiscallednowcough.

But IMO, it is almost becoming that playing OOC games is everything to lose, and nothing to gain for SEC. Everyone knows they are the best. For the other conferences, it is the opposite. They aren't supposed to win. When they do, it is huge.

What part of "tu cannot, will not, does not want to join the SEC" do you not get pj? It's not that damn difficult to understand. You do realize how contracts work right? We're talking 300 million for a network that Slive will never allow, nor can they get out of. Let alone they have clearly never been interested in joining with y'all.

As for your thoughts on adding us, whatever. I don't really get offended. But damn dude, let the sip love in your heart die the slow death it deserves. They're better than you and your hick ass conference. Just ask em'.

hey if it helps you sleep at night to believe that the SEC is getting the best Texas has to offer in football by picking up tamu then that's great.

As far as money, who would bring more to the SEC if they joined, TU or TAMU? Never said we would get TU like you implied I'm just saying if feels like settling just to expand (like in 92)

I understand, its good for the AD's and thier accounting books. But as a fan of TN, why do i want to change the SEC right now? It doesn't seem worth the risk.

There are already more good teams in the SEC than any other conference, why add more, and make it that much harder for TN to win the SEC?
I think ot's just one of those things where change is inevitable. People were scared to death when the SEC went to division play that no one would ever win a national title and it would be terrible that we weren't playing Auburn every year.

No one cares if they join. We simply don't want to stop playing our biggest rival to add A&M.

It's not about who would do what hypothetically. It's about who is available/willing literally.

Why is this so hard for you?

I feel like aTm is being underrated in this discussion. You all are no Vandy. I think instead of comparing Texas and aTm to Tennessee and Vandy, a better comparison is Georgia and Georgia Tech.

I personally like aTm. Especially more than Texas.

Big difference between losing Auburn and losing Alabama.

I was 12 then and didn't care. That's the SEC problem.

The SEC will stay the same. A&m fans have been saying they are going to join for years now. Wishful thinking on their part.
Is anyone else afraid that possible SEC expansion could result in the loss of the Tennessee/Alabama rivalry?

It seems crazy, but if 2 teams joined the conference, it's possible that the SEC would drop the permanent cross division game.

Also, if two Big 12 teams joined, it seems possible that Auburn could move East and remain Alabama's permanent rival.

I'm not usually the one obsessing over tradition, but losing this rivalry would really suck.

Obviously Vols fans would hate it and Bama wouldn't like it either, but is there much the two teams could do about it?

Dont remember who but it was back in the 90's. I liked the 3rd sat but I gotta admit that it's usually prettier up towards knox on the 4th sat just because the leaves usually start turning then.

Now that you mention it, the '95 game was the first time we played them on the 4th.

Read this and tell me why you think Slive would be interested.

College Station is a city in Brazos County, Texas, situated in East Central Texas in the heart of the Brazos Valley. The city is located within the most populated region of Texas, near three of the 10 largest cities in the United States - Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. The population estimate as of 2010 was 93,857

+1 on everything but the last sentence.

I hate hearing about AM&Sooners joining the SEC... Honestly makes no sense to me... We have 12 teams, and we're the South Eastern conference not the SE&some west conference... AM and Sooners have no business being apart of the SEC and i don't think it would ruin any tradition if they did join. They just keep crying cause Texas has their own network... Im pretty sure AM&Sooners have money to make a network too...

So says a fan of a program on their third coach in the last 4 years in football, a failed baseball program for the past decade, a basketball program riddled with rappers, coaching scandals, and a jv replacement.

Need I light the hat signal so one of your own inform you on the quality of hires? Let's not throw stones in that glass house.

Bama rivalry > Florida rivalry. For sure.
I hate nothing more than roll tide.
They've been a rival since Bear/Neyland.
And Bama and Tennessee's traditions rival each other much better than Florida. I believe in tradition more than the here and now.
You come in contact with way more Bama fans in Tennessee than Florida fans.
And apparently its an age debate as well... I'm 19

UT's desire for bye weeks before Florida and Bama made the shift necessary. Since then, the move to the 12 game schedule has made it a fixture for the foreseeable future.

This would be absolutely unacceptable, and I hope the folks running the SEC see this. Bama and Tennessee should have enough clout to prevent it.

However, if we added two West teams, there is a way to keep the rivalry and geographical balance: send Auburn AND Alabama East and move Vandy out West (making them our permanent rivals from the West division). Competitive imbalance becomes a worry, but I'd rather do that than lose our rivalry games.

I have no problems with aTm joining the SEC. I think they would be a good addition.

But this?? Like I care what a message board poster thinks of the hire. That is ridiculous. If you wanna bring it, bring it better than that.
