This loss will be 100% on the staff

Who exactly will be kicking the ball through the end zone? You can't make something happen just because you want it to.
Palardy has kicked a fairly high percentage of balls for a Touchback. He has to at least try, rather than call for a high-chopper. He also can call for squib kicks.

Reading threads like this- I don't even feel like defending anymore. When fans turn on their own team- the team they cheer for, spend money on buying gear or tickets, and too many waking hours talking/thinking/analyzing- it's just stupid and plain embarrassing. Not just embarrassing within the fan base because of how it looks to recruits and our current team in terms of our loyaly. But it's also embarrassing for college football and for us UT fans that know where the program actually is. I used to get mad and try to defend my Vols against their own fans. But now I look at it with amusement.

To make an analogy, these fans are basically standing up on stage in front of everybody (the members of this board and other lurkers) and double-fist punching themselves in the crotch (they might as well be considering their turning on something they're supposedly loyal to). And I'm supposed to stand up and tell them to stop? Hell no!!! Half the time trying to tell them to stop only makes them punch harder....

Fan: "I'm going to punch myself in the crotch in public because I'm frustrated"
Me: "Don't do it... Don't do it... You won't be able to have kids!!!"
Fan: "I'm tired of excuses!!! I'm gonna keep punching anyway!!! This is the only thing that makes sense right now to me!!!"

You guys that want to defend... Just know I'll (and maybe others) will be getting our popcorn

So talented they got their arse pounded 3-9 last year. :loco: That kind of talent?

It's different. They had the talent, not the coaching. You saw what happened when Malzahn left, they sucked, but they definitely had the talent. We didn't and it shows

we should have fired CBJ and the whole staff when they couldn't win a national championship in week 1. especially with all the hall of fame level coaches available right here on this board.

I thought I might venture to Volnation after the loss today. I see now that I shouldnt have. Get sobered up before you post. We lost to a clearly superior football team. Nothing to do with the coaching staff

Me? I never kid! Its the fans fault!

Lets make a list of why we got blown out today
1. Dooleys fault
2. Kiffins fault
3. Fans fault being critical of your teams play detours top level recruits from coming here because Tennessee is the only fan base in the world critical of its coaching staff.
4. Fulmers fault
5. Fans fault for not supporting a team that continues to quit
6. Freaks fault for taking away women of auburn thread
7. Hamiltons fault

Bottom line is this....We saw that they had a dangerous return man/game. We got snake bit early. Instead of trying to steer around the snake, we kept trying to reach and grab it. Ended up getting bit over and over and over, until we are lying face up dead, as a team.

Bonehead coaching today. No other way to spin it...sorry. Butch could have kept the ball away from the return men, but he thought he knew better. Malzahn took him (Butch) to school. Hope he 'learnt somethin' :ermm:

Malzahn showed our coaches his pimp hand. Period.

Everyone does realize Auburn is a top 10 team right? They are 8-1..Tennessee is 4-5...Everyone knows that right?..............

Auburn won 3 games last year while we won 5.
They just got through embarrassing us on national TV and are 8-1 with their new coach, while we are 4-6 with ours. You do know that means they are more likely to be moving in the right direction then us, right?

They had the talent, not the coaching.

We may or may not have enough talent in terms of players, but we certainly do NOT have coaching talent to compete in the SEC. CBJ needs to get rid of our DC asap (and for CBJ's own good he should no longer associate himself with special teams either).

Coaching has a lot to do with it. Specifically years of Dooley teaching these guys to suck.

Auburn's players had Chizik and went 0-8 in the SEC last year and got pounded in most of those losses. Malzahn and his staff are very far ahead of the other new staffs in the SEC.

True, but Malzahn was there before. So these are essentially his players (altho I can't say the same about the defenses).

Auburn is also 3 years removed from an NC and has recruited much better than us. They are loaded. Further, Gus Malzahn had as much ... probably MORE to do with their success from 2009-2011 than Chizik. Finally, the team had some off field issues last year and quit on Chizik even before the season began. And get this...Malzahn recruited almost every player on the Auburn offense and knows most of them pretty well.

None of this says that I am happy with how Tennessee played this game (or the previous game for that matter).

But it does say that Auburn's success, while impressive, isn't a complete shock like some think it is.

C'mon, folks, even the color guys - who've been kind thus far - can see we "not only don't know where to be but are tackling poorly".

'Atrocious' was one word the color guy used to describe Tennessee's tackling. He was spot on.

Our lack of speed, well, CBJ can't do much about it this year. But failure to teach proper tackling is all on the coaches including CBJ. Failure to teach the fundamentals was one thing that doomed the last HC, and could do the same to this one.

They're taking Butch's Brick and smashing us over the head with it!

Dooley had no luck. Jones has had a little bit of luck. Besides, that, I see no difference.

Butch is a great snake-oil salesman, while DD was anti-social.

Talkin' a good game isn't the same as performing on the field.

Yeah I'm venting! So what?!

Can't disagree. I feel i been had.
