Don't claim that the far right has a lock on fear-mongering, by any means. But you have to admit that since shortly before Obama took office, and certainly since then, the far right has really ratcheted it up. Between "Second Amendment remedies," selling "Crisis Garden" seeds which will be worth more than gold, and the like, the far right has really traded on fear a lot over the last three years.

This board and the constant lunatic rants of joevol and gsvol I think prove that.

The left's concerns

Global warming: verifiable fact

Growing income inequality: Verifiable fact

Racism and bigotry: Can't see how anyone would deny they still exist

Despite being the overwhelmingly richest country in the world, our health care is not the best: verifiable fact

The right's concerns

The President is a secret Muslim communist born in Kenya

Obummer is gonna storm my house and take my guns

The Economy will soon collapse, SO BUY SEEDS NOW!

The issue is not actual vs made up. The issue is assuming one side has legit concerns and the other side's are illegit.

So are income inequality, wall street, greedy doctors, racism, climate change, etc. real problems? Sure. But they are no where near the problems that screaming lefties (the extreme) make them out to be.

Likewise, are terrorism, islamo-extremism, government overreach, illegal immigration, etc. real problems? Sure are but likewise they are no where near the problem that screaming righties (the extreme) make them out to be.

I do too but don't believe the climate change is a dangerous as it's proponents suggest. Still, being green doesn't hurt (within limits).

Interestingly, Al Gore just came out against ethanol. We are in the ethanol business as deep as we are partly because of GW concerns and fully because the government decided it was a good idea - turns out they were off on that one.

This is where the $ involved gets in the way of intelligent planning and research.

Green is a good idea, but burning the fuels needed to produce ethanol is contradicting the purpose. This ole boy had that one figured a while back.:)
