I just want to say I am thrilled DT is doing so well. It was fun watching him blossom throughout his hs career to go from basically a Belmont/Lipscomb-type recruit to being our starting PG.
My question is, when is the last time we have had a "TRUE" PG running the show and not a converted 2 guard. Golden, Barton, etc....we seemed to get in a rut trying to take under-sized 2 guards and make them handle the ball. It hasn't worked out so well.
@Ben_Fred: Jarnell Stokes on PG Darius Thompson: "He controlled the tempo. I really like playing with Darius. When he has the ball, I run harder."
@Ben_Fred: Stokes: "Darius is a guy who is not looking to score the ball. He dribbles with his head up. A lot of guys in college don't do that."
@Ben_Fred: Stokes: "When you have a guy like that, you have to use it to your best of ability. Run for him, because I know he'll find me."
He gets confidence in his shot and he will impress even further. I'm glad he hit that one 3, that'll help him. He's a 40% perimeter shooter, he just has had no confidence, it'll get there though.
Bobby Maze / Melvin Goines.
I'm not going to go ahead and give him the type of credit that Aaron Craft has earned, but he reminds me, in the way you notice him on the floor, of Craft. You don't really notice Craft on the stat sheet (until you look at Min/TO) yet the team would COMPLETELY fall apart without him. I'm starting to get that feeling when I get a little anxious when Thompson isn't bringing the ball up the court and running the offense. This guy might really be the most critical play ther CCM has brought into this program.
