Lots of reasons. One, we hear a lot about how the SEC is the ONLY football conference in the country and everyone else is just a bunch of weak sorry conferences. The Pathetic-12 Conference, the Big Slow Conference etc. You guys whether you want it or not have a target on your backs. Two, you guys will be looking for revenge after the game in Knoxville. Three, when you're ranked in the top 10 EVERYONE brings there best game. Four, Oregon lives by "Win The Day".
I could probably go on, but lets just say if you guys beat us, it won't be because we took you lightly, you'll earn it.

I do think it'll be closer than some think, because Butch is pretty much prepping the team FOR this game in practice. Fast paced, loud, non-stop.
We will reciprocate that pace, but Oregon just has more talent and depth.
It's gonna be a loss, but it's a game that has peaked my interest.
UT was at least ranked in the top 10 in the country going into that game...This UT team isn't ranked in the top 10 of the SEC! That's why.
Cute, but neither was the 85 Vols at the beginning of the year.
In 84 we went 7-4-1 and lost to Kentucky. At the beginning of 85 our offense had only Tony Robinson and Tim McGee, but no RB and had lost the bulk of experience on the line ( Raleigh McKenzie and Bill Mayo). Defense had also lost its core strength (Carl Zander, Alvin Toles, and Reggie McKenzie) and both our Kicker (Fuad Reveiz) and punter (Jimmy Colquitt). We started the year unranked and were facing the #10, #1, #7 and #15 teams in 4 of our first 5 games.
No one thought we would do any better than the 84 team. We were ecstatic when we beat Auburn, but it was a mixed blessing since Tony Robinson went out with a career ending knee injury. After the tie with Georgia Tech, most of us thought the season was over. Somehow Daryl Dickey and the boys won out and whipped Miami, but at this same time in 1984 you would have been hard pressed to find one person who thought the 85 season would go the way it did.

I think UT will go out there and play pretty well. They may not win, but I'd be shocked if they didn't put forth a valiant effort.
If UT is in this game and happens to win, it won't be because Oregon has a new coach or overlooked UT. It will be because UT was prepared. It's that simple.
