Thoughts About The End Of the Trump Reign

You're not understanding my position. You said the constitution forces Trump to take action. It does not.

I suppose a cop is not forced constitutionally to give you a ticket if that's where you're going here but this is what the Constitution has to say about the President's obligation to enforce laws passed by our Congress:

Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution requires the President to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” This clause, known as the Take Care Clause, requires the President to enforce all constitutionally valid Acts of Congress, regardless of his own Administration's view of their wisdom or policy.

By enforcing existing immigration laws, Trump was seeing to it that the laws are faithfully executed. This is his duty as stated in the Constitution. If you don't like that law then you ought to get the law changed. Don't blame the guy who's enforcing it and call him racist

But he's not violating the constitution by not enforcing every law. It's an impossible task and the president's ability to nullify laws is one of the many useful checks and balances of the system. Just like a cop doesn't have to hand out a ticket every time someone exceeds the limit 1mph, and just like a judge can throw out a ticket for going 1 mph over the limit, POTUS can use his discretion as well.

We can't reasonably expect any president to execute every law nor do we want that. We have a system that allows the president to prioritize his actions. Obama took DACA completely off his priority list, which is his right. Trump put them back on the priority list, which is also his right and nobody gets to say he "had to" because that's BS and implies a complete misunderstanding of how the executive branch works.

It is your opinion that a President need not prioritize DACA enforcement but you're not President. The fact remains that Trump was enforcing a law passed by our legislature. You want him to ignore it. It's not racist if he's enforcing existing law

Who decides which laws get ignored? Certainly not you

Dude...how do you not get my position, yet? It's not about what he needed to do. It's about what he willfully chose to do. It's just me holding him accountable for his actions and not letting him off the hook with a BS excuse.

What if he takes his ball and goes home. But then, inexplicably, returns by winning election in 2024?

Bet something like that has never happened though.;)

I would be mildly surprised if he saw the ball drop in 2024. I have my suspicions about his health issues.

He willfully chose to enforce existing law and you've got your panties in a bunch about it. If you don't like it, go to Congress. That's how these things work in our system. You don't throw a fit and call him a racist

Do you think every law ever passed deserved enforcement? In fact, are there any laws that have been passed in the past that would currently be a crime to enforce?

I have no idea what the average interest rate has been for the last 50 years, but I would be willing to bet that if he actually "banked" the $10,000, it wouldn't be worth more than about a quarter million by now. In the stock market, it might have gotten to 3/4 million.
If I use a 6% average rate of return over that 50 year period then just put it up n and leave it is:

10,000 * 1.06^50 = 184,201

Of course period deposits would greatly impact that.

If I used 6% average return for 50 years, I would get a doubling every 12 years with the rule of 72, and would come up with 160,000 after 48 years in 2018. Then 6% for 2019 and 2020 would get me at 179,776.

As a general rule I think we need to enforce our existing laws. If I don't think a law should be enforced I'd lobby my legislature to change it. If someone enforced the law, I'd lay blame with the legislature, not the executive branch.

I take it you disagree. How do we decide which laws we enforce?

I thought that was the health concern you had about him. I think he is showing early S/S.

I don’t think so. As much as he displays his hands when he speaks I would imagine he would display some pin rolling movement or tremor.

It has more to do with his breathing the past couple years.

And stumbles and stone face , the only thing I haven’t noticed is tremors .
Remember djt shuffling to/from the stage on the ramp? Notice how he has that odd slightly flexed forward at the waist posture? How he brings his cup to his mouth to drink?

I think he has early onset Parkinsons.

he could have intermittent resting tremors right now where it just hasn't progressed.
