Thoughts on Keeton

It's the normal for anyone coming back from a ACL injury to have lots of fear of getting hurt again.

This is his 1st game back and that fear will still be there and if we keep lots of pressure on him and smack him down alot then he'll become our best friend as he starts throwing picks just to get rid of the ball and save himself.

1 key to this Win is staying in his face and hitting him early and often.

DB's need to cover well so our front 7 can knock him on his azz alot.

holes and gaps should close faster than last year due to uptick in team speed and another year in a system for several defenders.
There has also been an adjustment time for many hs defensive players to come in over the last few years and try to learn, along with the coaches, how to defend a spread. Monte was trying to learn and finally said screw it. Now, with more colleges running spreads, more coaches know how to coach it and more should know how to defend it so it comes down to mano e mano.
Additionally, more highschools now run the spread so instead of a bright eyed freshman coming in and knowing nothing or little, there is a good chance he has seen the spread often in highschool and understands how the defense is supposed to be played to stop it.

I don't care what anybody thinks, Tennessee is winning big and I am betting the house on it!

SMH. The rest of their team may be hot garbage, but pre-injury Keeton is/was the real deal.

In his conference he was exceptional. This year not withstanding, we see 6-7 QB's as good or better on a yearly basis.

We have this conversation every year before our tune-up money game. Afterwards everybody is reminded about the size and speed difference in SEC athletes. This is not a slight on Keeton, or any of the other fine young men playing for the Aggies. But there is a difference, it's really not debatable.

That says way more about the state of our QB's than it does Keeton as a player.

OP asked for thoughts on Keeton.

That was my thought on Keeton.

If he is 100% recovered, he is a game changer and would probably start for half the SEC teams.

Check out some film.

I haven't made any statements about overall talent. No question we are the more talented team at probably every position except QB. Just because he plays outside the SEC, doesn't mean you can discount his talent.

I think we win without too much fuss, but he possesses the individual talent to make us worry if we don't contain him.

If are Defense don't put pressure on him every play. This Guy is good enough to take this game over. We put the pressure on him then im not worried. We play on our heels its going to be a long game and close.

No problem....all opinions welcomed by me.

I would be posting from the standpoint of ignorance if I hadn't looked at some film. I'm very aware....he's a good mid major QB. That is all.

He's a key, not a game changer IMO.

Oh yeah, no problems here either. I welcome most opinions save a couple of sanctimonious pr-cks on here.

I think Keeton's arm and legs could change this game in particular if they aren't careful. Big if is whether he is 100% from the injury or not.

We aren't an elite SEC defense by any stretch.

The recruiting is nice but this team is still a little slow across the board by my estimations.

It may be....but it's bigger and faster than USU. Cincinnati, NC State, and Cincinnati all found out (against worse Vol teams) that there is a difference. And athletes make the difference.

Keeton is good, but not unlike QBs we've seen and beaten recently.

Maggitt and AJ will rock him so many times that all of his pocket presents will be scattered all over the field in USU's side of the field.

His movements/mechanics remind me of Johnny Manziel but his actions are way smarter.

He will have a bunch of running yards or a bunch of passing yards. It won't be pretty.

I believe he's a genetically modified hybrid superhuman combining the best attributes of Jim Brown, Michael Vick, Mean Joe Green, and (gasp) Peyton Manning.

It's truly frightening. We've never faced anything as fearsome. Truly an historic moment. Records will fall, and the pillars of Neyland Stadium will tremble.

Nitpicking here big time but I don't think Glennon is a good comparison.

His mobility is limited at best so that dimension was out the window.

Point is taken but I just see the Keeton making some hellacious throws and not just against Sister Mary's School for the Deaf.

So....all that makes him 40% as effective and good as Johnny Football? :)
