Thoughts on Keeton

on Sunday. I am not a Negavol, but given the recent history of our defense, we struggle to contain quarterbacks. We are only one season removed from the worst defense in UT history!

Also, Keeton's numbers in big games are phenomenal.
2011 Auburn game: 21/30 213yards 0 INTs, along with 2 rushing TD's, lost by 4 points.
2012 Wisconsin: 2 TDs 0 Ints, 75 yards rushing, lost by 2 points
2013 USC 2 TDs 0 Ints, 179 yards, lost by 3 points.

You don't go from being a terrible defense to completely turning around in one year. Please somebody, give me some bit of EVIDENCE that we will be able to slow him down...

Yep, I will be drinking all day. The closer I get the more I think it's a toss up.

He's a good mid-major QB....that is all. We see QB's of his kind quite frequently. WKU, Cincinnati, even MTSU have presented us with similar talent in recent years. These games always end the same.

He will be forgotten on Monday.

He has a torn ACL from 10 months ago, hasn't played in a game since and has a new, inexperienced O-line and receivers that are a mismatch to our secondary. A lot of people think that won't affect him one bit. We're gonna find out.

This!!!! And no one seems to be talking about this at all!!

Can we rename this thread "Justin Worley may have career day"

Those numbers don't looks scary to me at all.

If I have a choice between Keeton (proven qb coming back from an injury) or Worley (non stellar numbers who we HOPE has drastically improved), I go with the guy who has proven he can perform.

Worley's beaten a top 10 team...not almost! :)

Well, the common denominator in all of those examples is that Utah State lost.... Good enough for me.

Evidence? You know the game isn't until Sunday right? There's no evidence to back what you're saying or to disprove it.

Not many people would argue too hard if you want to say Keeton is better than Worley. It's what surrounds both guys that will make a huge difference.

You posters that are saying you aren't scared of Keeton's numbers against Auburn, Wisconsin, and USC (some of the top defenses in the country)... are you the same guys that are predicting Tennessee to win by 20 points? Because those numbers show that that is probably not going to happen.

Those numbers are from when he had a knee...and they weren't all that great anyway. :glare:

UT vs USC 2013. there's your evidence, and we are a year better now

You show him being responsible for 2 TD's in each contest. How does that keep us from winning by 20?

FWIW, I think our offense finds the Checkerboard 6 times on Sunday night.

Auburn 3 years ago: Average
Wisconsin 2 years ago: Average
USC Last season w/ kiffin: Lol

Also, btw, none of those are this season. FWIW... which is everything.

If they both were a one-man team, absolutely. But I'll take our receivers and our secondary over theirs, and we both have rebuilt O-lines. And we're playing in our house, with superior talent. Our QB situation worries me, too, but Worley has weapons all around him. I think we have the talent to outscore them, even if Keeton has a big day against our shaky D.
