Thoughts on Kentucky

People I've talked to here don't really seem to be worried. Everyone knows Cal will have them ready come tourney time.

This team simply has no one leading right now. They need to defend better and simply make their shots. I think we should start playing zone. Players like wjiter, hood, and mays can't guard athletic players.

We'll end up having a good year and probably have 3 guys in the top 10 of draft.

zone may work against UofL but playing zone in south bend would be been a disaster

Harrow isn't a great PG but losing him so early in the season I think really shook the team. Archie isn't a PG, neither is Alex, I wish Mays was a little more athletic so perhaps he could bring it up but I don't think that is an option. I honestly think Polson may be their best option as a backup point - Goodwin just can't seem to get it. he's a slasher and doesn't have great vision in the halfcourt.

Other Cal teams have had time to come together in the preseason (the FF team went to Canada, last year's team trained all off season with half the NBA) and this team didn't get the benefit of either of those. I wonder if some of their faltering is due in part to that.

I bet we see a 8 loss team and when it comes to March it's all about matchups. They have the talent to make a run but it's tough to tell in December.

Kentucky does have talent, that is one thing I won't disagree about but as far as making a run in March Madness, someone needs to step up and become a leader. If not, I see NIT looking bright, or..... Goodwin forces it way too much. Instead of creating baskets, he creates turnovers. No fluidity on offense. BTW, get Wiltjer off the court. He's a liability.

It won't be NIT. We save those for Billy Clyde years. Wiltjer is only good for that spot where you need a three, nothing more.

1/13 from 3 land in the past 2 games. His shooting has declined tremendously, ever since that Lafayette game.

Noel != Davis, but through their first 9 games as Wildcats:

Anthony Davis 11.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 4.3 bpg, 1.6 spg, 1.1 apg.
Nerlens Noel 11.1 ppg, 9.9 rpg, 3.6 bpg, 2.7 spg, 2.2 apg

You sticking with your

Harrow>Teague
Noel=Davis

Statement?

Wanna bet on end of year numbers?

Anyone who has watched even a little basketball can see there really is little comparison between the 2.

I also see you didn't even touch the harrow/Teague comparison...still think harrow is better?

I never said anything about Harrow, bubba. That was LittleCat.

Again, I said that AD > NN, but it was just interesting to compare.

I thought you mentioned it as well last year, there were quite a few UK fans gungho about harrow saying he beats Teague in practice everyday.

Agreed. I think the talent for this basketball season is not up to the level of a lot of SEC teams. If Calipari can get this team to 25 regular season wins, he'll gain a ton of respect IMO. This is by far his worst team at UK.

What are people's thoughts on UK?

I think UK is starting to come into form to be honest - UL has played great this year and is imo the best team in the country - UK went in and gave them everything they could handle (MO got smoked by ville and they played Duke w/o their center)

Baylor is the only really bad game they have played and I think they will win 12-13 games in the SEC, make a run in the SEC tourney and be a 4-6 seed - same thing i thought at the beginning of the year

It's tough. Looking back, Teague didn't deserve all the criticism. So far, he's been better than Harrow.

Noel has been playing at a really high level. I just doubt he can continue it against elite teams. That being said, we play against a very weak sec. Bleeding, don't be surprised if Noel's stats are inflated by tourney time.

Cauley-Stein has impressed me. That dunk down the middle of the lane against louisville was nice.

Louisville was playing their best, and still almost lost. UK played terrible for a long stretch of the game, was down 17, and found a way to get back. They have a lot of room to grow.

Wish we sucked so bad.

According to a few bracketologists we are currently the better team. We have the better record, the better resume and the better RPI.

Now if that holds is the million dollar question, but right now at this exact time, UT has been the better team.
