Thoughts on the 10/22 scrimmage

Let's be honest, who was he starting over? Derek Reese, Quinton Chievous, Dmontre Edwards??

AJ Davis has come in and performed better than him from all accounts, that's not a knock on Moore but credit to AJD. I would also think the fact that AJD is a legit 6'9" makes him at the 4 a bit more appealing to the staff.

He will play at the 3.

Idk where they are coming from, but Moore will get his minutes. He hustles the entire time he is on the court. He is a baller!

Skylar Mcbee hustled his ass off too, but I couldn't see him getting minutes on this team. Q hustles as hard as anyone, but will be lucky to see any meaningful minutes.

Moore averaged 13 minutes per game last year, if we stay healthy I think that number will decrease.

I totally disagree, Moore will get plenty of minutes this year. He is very solid on the boards and the defensive end. He's a very versatile player that has improved. Just watch and see.

Show me a breakdown of minutes in which you see Moore getting more than 13 minutes a game, I'm very interested.

Do you want this on an Excel spreadsheet? Like I said, just sit back and watch.

If you're so confident in it then it shouldn't be that hard to type up something real quick, doesn't have to be fancy, I'll even give you an example:

F: Maymon 20/ Davis 10/ Moore 10
F: Stokes 30/ Maymon 10

Obviously all anyone can do is sit back and watch, I can say Pops will play. 30 minutes a game sit back and watch, doesn't mean I'm right. I'm just looking for you to provide some reasoning was all, there's been multiple reports that Davis has beat out Moore for the backup 4 spot. Martin just said he wants to go 8 deep, with Maymon and Stokes as starters that doesn't leave much room for anyone besides Davis in the post to be logging big minutes.

Not a knock against Davis at all because he seems like he's gonna be a player, but I will be really impressed if he is still playing well enough to take Moore's minutes during SEC play. I can only believe preseason practice results a certain amount, kind of like Spring Training for baseball.

Here's my reasoning....Ive seen the guy on the court. He gets it done enough were they will need him 15-18 minutes a game at various positions especially on certain nights. I was the one screaming that Edwards would never see the floor last year (because he couldn't guard anyone) when everyone was saying otherwise.

Agree, the physical toll will be something to watch. However it's not as if he's performing against scrubs and looking good, he's going against Moore in practice, and getting the better of him.

If Moore is averaging 15+ mpg this year ill buy you a beer before a SECT game, I just don't see it happening. There were only 6 guys on last years team average 15+ minutes, and Moore wasn't one of them. Martin likes to find a strong 6 and play them as much as possible, then have a couple role guys getting the remaining minutes, it's how he's always done it.

As you said though, well have to just sit back and watch.

Another reason I say this is because I believe Martin will move away from playing only 6 players. For 1 he isnt forced to do that this year because of more quality depth and 2 is because he hasn't been successful with that strategy thus far because if guys logging so many minutes late in the year and being tired.

Well all I can say is that it is nice to have such quality depth that a talented player like Moore might have trouble finding minutes. I will salute that!!!

You and me both.I will agree with BTO that our depth is in much better shape.

Well he basically just reiterated that he's gonna play the guys the same way again this year, not go deeper. Actually he has basically said he wants to play a smaller rotation this year than last, so not sure that goes with what you're saying.

As for not being successful with that philosophy, his most successful season was actually the year he also went with the smallest rotation, so doubt he sees it the way you do. He went 7 deep his final year at Missouri state, and that was by far his most successful season as a coach.

Absolutely. Martins has been raving about that, it makes practice that much better, better practice hopefully equals better results.

Honestly there are way to many variables to say how many minutes anyone is getting outside of Jordy, and Stokes who both get 30 baring injuries.
