Almost like they have an axe to grind. Bruce isnt the only person who gets hurt in all of this. I wish they would realize that and move on. Even more reason to speed up the search. Im all for making sure we get this right but dang we need something to change the story line.

When you look at it objectively - a guy like Marshall is the most likely candidate. Not surprising that is the name being floated the most

I thought him mentioning Pearl's behavior in the buyout meeting was very relevant. I don't see how 10 year old civil suits are.

I think a lot of people have him as the best mid-major coach on their list (non-Stevens division). I don't really consider the best mid-major prospect to be settling, although you can think of it that way if you think our goals are Dixon, Wright, and Turgeon. I tend to think Marshall is our realistic goal and we just have a couple other guys that we're calling, just in case they're interested.

Best piece of info I gained from this is No. 1, even though people claim him to be a long shot, I haven't seen one thing about Dixon saying he has no interest in this job. If we are willing to spend the money, we can get a coach of this stature. Dixon would be an excellent follow up to Pearl, and would not only recruit well, but also continue a winning legacy at Tennessee.

I wouldn't call it settling. I'm sure they are taking shots at higher profile guys, which they should.

Marshall built Winthrop and did a great job and now at Wichita is one win away from most victories in a season for the Shockers.

A lot of people around here are going to complain about hiring him but he's done a great job at two schools so it would appear to be a solid hire.

Wow that sure is some serious embarrassing civil suits there. Amazing how many people read one quote from someone they don't know and jump to an immediate conclusion. Everyone now just seems to look for anything they can find to hang Pearl with. Like "he got into a cussing match" with some UT officials over his buyout and that just show's what kind of character he has? We have no clue what was said to Pearl behind closed doors maybe two months ago Cheeks was having dinner with Pearl and said Bruce if this goes south I'll make sure you get at least two million. I'm sure that wasn't the case but easy to see something similar to that occurring. Pearl did enough wrong and he's suffering for it but does it really do any good to pile on especially when you don't really have anything to go on except what someone posted on a message board. To bad someone with some sense found a link to the civil cases or 90% of the people on here would have went with Lawvol's "you can do the math" and assume it involved another woman while he was married to Kim. I'm sure "do the math" would have taken on a life of it's own by this time tomorrow. Nothing worse then idyll gossip and that's what most of these threads boil down to.

A number of them got burned just as badly as the Orange Overall Crowd by buying into the sham that is Bruce Pearl and fawningly covering him. Now, they're pissed and taking it out on him. I approve. If they manage to make him look so bad he never gets another job, it'll be fine with me.

Youre entitled to your opinion,but dont you think it looks bad on the program too and may hamper the coaching search? Not to get into another deep discussion but I can think of tons of people that I dont like or think are morally misguided and not one of them can I honestly say I wish he never gets another job. Hopefully you are just trying to make your point and dont really feel that way. If so they make medication to treat that.

- UT plans to have a coach within two weeks.The five coaches at the top of UT's list are Pittsburgh HC Jamie Dixon, Villanova HC Jay Wright, Alabama HC Anthony Grant, Texas A&M HC Mark Turgeon and Wichita St HC Gregg Marshall. Marshall is the only one they will have a chance with.

This was sent to me from a former D-1 coach.

Why would another coach care if Bruce Pearl is a scumbag who doesn't pay his debts? His peers have known Pearl is trash for over twenty years. They couldn't care less how he gets portrayed.

We should have paid him $1.00 instead of $1 million. Good grief! :shakehead:

It's a sad day on the hill when our beloved program is settling for Kiffins, Dooleys, Marshalls of the world. You hire stepping stone coaches you become a stepping stone program.

i know nothing about college bb coaches but this Marshall guy, from some of the reactions on here, def doesnt seem to be a hi five each other kinda hire.:hmm:

Going from the guy that took your program to their first ever #1 ranking to a guy with one NCAA tournament win and an inablity to win the MVC will take the air out of the program pretty fast.
