Tim Banks defense...

This defense still sucks on 3rd and long. Gave up a 3rd and 17, and 3rd and 12. Secondary is average on a good day. Banks coaches secondary at practice

Simplest of things.

DBs turning their heads.
Db's not playing 10 yards off every play.
Db's using the sideline leverage.

U know...the stuff ur taught by a competent DB coach in high school.

Seems to me like you just don’t like our style of play, which held A&M to 13 points today and forced 2 turnovers. Might be time for you to admit to yourself that your way isn’t always right.

Defense, including DBs, played LIGHTS OUT today. And in general, some of our posters are stuck in 2021 or earlier, or stuck remembering how they use to play Defense in 2A high school ball, in their critiques of THIS P5 Defense.
Some observations:
-The tackling, including the DBs, was outstanding.
-Pearce is a freak, and Baron was solid as usual.
-The Defense was VERY gap sound- didn’t lose leverage outside & didn’t get gashed between Tackles.
-The scheme against this QB was solid. I don’t recall us blitzing ourselves out of a play.
-Hadden broke well on the ball a couple of times, and T MacDonald made a great break in the middle of field (with a slight tug).
-A&Ms #1 looked like a mismatch against Jeudy-Lally. Fortunately A&M didn’t take advantage.
Edit- Eason & Garland were tough against the run.

Defense is talented. Still think Banks blows it serval times a game though. Maybe the first half of the UF game is just unforgivable to me lol
Aggies stopped themselves several time on offense today, qb falls down on 4th down, trips over his tackle on third down, dropped passes with wide open receivers, Tennessee gave up several third and longs today to a middle of the road SEC offense, the debacle in Gainesville could very easily be repeated in Tuscaloosa, we shall see

I hear ya but I think a lot of that was also the offense’s inability to produce. I hate to keep revisiting this game but missing Cooper and Mincey was huge. How many drives did we start behind the sticks. The problem with Heupel’s offense is that if it doesn’t produce the defense doesn’t get much of a breather.

The more I watch college football the more I have to remind myself that it isn’t pro football. We don’t have a lot of NFL guys right now minus a lot of the front of the defense, Mays, and the RBs. Everyone else is bad. They make a lot of mistakes, but so does the other team. I’m glad the defense got constant pressure and didn’t give up the dumb score. There are a lot of problems and opportunities to make plays, but make no mistake, the defense won this one. Also, FREE DEE!

Line = A

DB = D-

Martinez gotta go

Amen to this. Who among us would not trade our secondary right now for Texas A&M’s secondary?

I agree that Martinez should find another employer for us to finally field an SEC-quality secondary. I’m done with him.

Defense definitely won the game today and Banks deserves most of the credit. Great to see that improvement for sure. HOWEVER, that does not mean we will just immediately forget/dismiss 2nd quarter of Florida game or SCjr game last year as not significant. Those are not couple of drives why people have been calling for him to be fired - Banks' defense literally cost us playoff spot last year and UF loss this year is also mostly on him. Let's see how the D holds up next couple of weeks on the road in big SEC games where we have had most of the issues. If they perform as well as they have played at home last couple of games that should shut everyone up calling for Banks and/or Martinez to be fired. I personally need to see that to be convinced that we have really turned the corner.
