Tim Banks lost us this game

He had less than 200 yards of total offense. There isn't world that exists where that is called good. He's a freshman. I'm ok with it. But I'm not stupid
I didn’t say you were stupid. I said every QB overthrows a few balls in every game. I don’t know why Tennessee fans are so fixated on overthrows. He played well enough for us to win tonight.

Apparently dropping dimes from 50+ is really easy with 300lb behemoths running at you full speed and should be completed 80%+

He's been spectacular all season so I'll give him a pass but his inability to adjust to what Georgia was doing opening up those seam routes for Beck is what lost us this game. Our dline played well against the run. But we got picked apart in the pass game on the same play over and over again.

Also Kirby has Huepel's number on offense. Nico, Sampson, and Squirrel balled out. But the coaches didn't help them.

Huepel and the coaching staff are gonna have to own this loss.
Weren't you on here talking about 11-1, running Georgia out of their own stadium, "trust me bro" etc all week?

I wonder what percentage of fans in the Predict the Score contest had Georgia winning this game? Playing on the road to a Georgia team that needed to win, I bet most fans if they were honest saw the outcome they expected

I don't understand why he never sent more then 4 guys, Ole Miss sacked them severely times, and he rarely sent pressure... We should have blitz them all night long... Banks has been bailed out by talent all year... idc what people say... when you're outmanned 6-4 on the line of scrimmage you've gotta send someone... that's common sense...

I thought he played great given the circumstances. He put us in position to win if the defense doesn't allow Georgia to march up and down the field at will the entire second half.

Some of these posts are just outright ridiculous. How is it that he put us in position to win when we lost by two touchdowns and didn't score in the 2nd half? I'm not blaming him but being a gamer is not enough. He started out good but a game is 4 quarters. Again, play calling, drops, blocking, etc play a factor but he missed some plays as well. The deep ball to Thornton was 10 yards over his head.

I agree 1000 percent. He can go to the MAC and take Martinez w/him.

If you have watched over the years you would KNOW he's a 🗑️coord. This year it looked like he knew what he was doing just because of our talent. Once adjustments were required, the true 🗑️ showed up.

I'm not holding my breath tho, cause we renewed Martinez. Starts at the top.

Banks didn’t lose the game good grief… It’s the junk play calling from Choke Huepel and Co.

And 17 people liked this post 😅

Geez us…

You titled the post “Tim Banks lost it…” but then acknowledged Kirby knows Heupels offense just as well he does.

This team was good enough to beat THAT Georgia team in any field.
God forbid Georgia gets another DT QB and good OC.

Heupel needs to bring in a fresh philosophy to blend with his own.

We’ve been luckily our defensive line is so good this year, but this game totally exposed our secondary and why were we not blitzing Beck all night long? Did Tim Banks not even watch the Ole Miss game? That was how you beat Georgia

If we finish 10-2 that’s awesome and with a freshman qb, but it’s the same ol TN until we get some better playmakers, a better secondary, and better play calling

Unbelievable how different we played them than Ole Miss.

They literally gave us the blue print and we straight up said “Nah…we good”.

Heupel had the talent to win today, but not the MIND to win. He needs helps. Bigtime…

I agree. Banks has proven his coaching isn't going to help the defense. He proved that the last 2 seasons with a weaker defense. Thank God for CCG. Banks is living off the DL this season. Got no faith in him, CWM, the OC, or the offensive line coach. Having a proven DL coach shows how quickly you can build a position group. The rest are slaw.

Yeah, it is hard to point to many plays where Nico messed up. It wasn't like Arkansas where the offense clearly messed up. The defense could not adjust to Georgia doing the very quick passing and the Defensive Line did not get pressure at all. D-line cost the game.

I generally agree with this post.

One of the things I noticed the few times we did get pressure, Napoleon Dynamite's son was able to escape and there wasn't a LB anywhere to clean him up. The field would just be wide open.
