Tim Banks to MTSU?

So would you say our safeties are good? How about the soft zone we run and get torched while doing so? Our defense allowed Cody Schroeder to set a record against us. We allowed Leary at UK to have his best game of the year against us. Did our defense do good against sorry teams? Yes. Against good teams? Not so much.

And in loses, the offense scored an average of 13pt. Tennessee is in the SEC and scoring an average of 13pt isn't gonna win very many games. So while we're pointing out defensive play, let's be fair and talk about bad offense play as well.

This TEAM didn't do well against good teams, both offensively and defensively. Nobody gets a pass when you lose and you're a team.

The timing is terrible. Don’t want to lose some of those blue chip defensive recruits before early signing day.
This could hurt us more than many people realize.
Banks isn’t perfect; but he is bringing in some top talent

Yes the offense was bad but we aren’t talking about them. Has our offense been bad for 3 years? No. The defense allowed Austin Oeay to almost throw for 300 yards against us.

Lol. No we might actually find someone that will have us man up instead of playing zone 20 yards off the line of scrimmage.
How many times does it have to be said? Look at our CB's and Safeties. Not one could start for any of the better team's in the SEC. Not one of them would sniff the field at UGa, Bama, LSU, OleMiss, and not even upstart Mizzou or raggy Gators Defensive Backfields. A coach can only coach up a player so much. And it's not Banks fault. Martinez, Pruitt and being terrible for the last 20 years will do it for you. Tell me the last time we've fielded a good Defensive Backfield? 2009 with Berry and Jansen? Don't forget about Prentiss Wagner and Art "Burnt Toast" Evans.
But our pass defense has went from 289 in '22 and 273 in '21 to 234ish this season. To put all the blame on Banks is crazy.

None of you guys wonder how good the D would have actually been if our Offense would've been good this year?
Remember when our defense was on the field for a full quarter and our offense couldn't even get a snap in? Or how many 3rd and longs we gave up? His defense is a mess. The d line is the only thing that looked good. Call it a lack of talent, but I believe its HIS scheme in the back half that kills us. How many times have we seen ZERO adjustments to things that kept happening during a game? Time for a change, but only if it's a true upgrade and WM needs to go regardless.

I literally think its his scheme man. Look at the first few series of the GA game. We played with less cushion early and the defense looked good doing it

DCs scheme up a defense with the talent they have and assess strengths and weaknesses. Our strength this year was the defensive line. Agree with you about DB talent. The one NFL prospect we have in Hadden was lost to injury. The rest of them are just average players. Hopefully, the talent in that unit sees an upgrade soon.

The amount of people that want Banks gone as if we’re guaranteed to hire some stud DC that will lead us to Top 10 defenses annually is stunning.

I’m not saying Banks has done a perfect job, but the defense was mostly fine this year with the exception of a few moments in a couple of games while still having a talent deficiency. Defense was far from the problem this year. Could easily see Banks leaving and the defense taking a step back.

Maybe we will strike gold and a change will do us good, but man Banks has not done nearly as bad of a job here as some of the drama queens would make you think.
Defense fell apart once injuries starting piling up. We don't have the depth yet to deal with that. We're getting there though

Of course we're not talking about the offense, that's part of the problem. When you try to isolate the defense as the problem of this TEAMS woes, without judging the offense with all its shortcoming, the argument loses credibility and becomes a personal attack on Banks.

He walked into a great situation at Penn State. They have recruited well and have had a great defense for years.
Now just think about what you said about him and PennSt. We are no where neat that type of situation. Everyone would be calling for him to be for3d before we got half way through the season.

💯. Banks shouldn't have to be perfect. Are we asking the coaches on offense to be perfect? Are we asking the players to be perfect? Why is Banks being judged so harshly? Some of these folks are showing some ugly character traits.

He ain't gone yet...unless I missed something. We have a questionable social media account I think and good ol' basilio. I think I'll defer on the panic considering the cited sources.

Tim Banks defense in 2023 yards per play allowed: 29th in the country

Derek Mason, the guy the fans are in love with, yards per play allowed in 2022 at Okie State: 92nd in the country
What did he do at Stanford and Vandy? You left those out.
