Tim Banks to MTSU?

The total requirements are Not going to change with a change. Schemes will change with a new DC. Quality Depth is one thing needed and a change of certain coaches is a need. We need Headhunters and Hawks on Defense which has turned into a rare breed in College football.

I can’t believe he is being considered anywhere. We were horrible last year, and this year slightly better Thanks to the D-Line development

I suspect Butch blew his whole budget on Shoop, which should have made a huge difference. PSU tried hard to keep him, but the money spoke.
I would be ok with him coming back, honestly.
Great defensive coach. Good person. Respected. and we have a far more capable roster and Head Coach.
He's currently a position coach for the Birmingham Stallions. Might be tough to pry away from that sweet gig

Quality depth trumps everything. Exhibit A: Mike Bobo

MTSU already has their guy, the details are just still being hammered out. I’m not at liberty to discuss the name, as I work for the university and could get myself into trouble but they’ve had their sights set on this target since before Coach Stockstill and co were let go.
TCU RB coach?

He said Liberty. We know who it is. I kid…

No. He's the fan scapegoat. It's just rinse and repeat when underperforming.

We're rolling w mostly 3* talent v 4* talent in our top rivals. So, the masses clueless masses HAVE to fire someone asap, 1st a pos coach, then the DC, then the HC. They have little to no real knowledge of ANYTHING that happens on a daily basis. But a crowd of ignorance and high emotion can quickly form a narrative that takes on a life of its own.

Bellicheck couldn't form this group into a top 10 defense, when you consider the talent and the complimentary offensive scheme a DC is given here. If Heupel can upgrade the talent, then watch how great our new DC becomes
Maybe he should recruit better players. Idk just thinking outside the box here.

This is why if we keep banks another year but replace Martinez I’ll personally be content. I just can’t get behind our DBs not looking for the ball while it’s in the air
Most D coaches coach it both ways, everybody or I should say a lot thinks you are supposed to turn around no matter what but its situational. The only thing about turning and looking for the ball, is you are most likely not going to draw a PI if you are hand fighting with receiver. If you turn and the balls not coming and the receiver has broken to a post or flag on your turn, you see this happen and the fans say why is that guy so wide open. Because the DB turned to look for the ball right when the speedy receiver was in his break.
You hear he wasn't turning to look for the ball from the announcers explaining the PI and most fans think on every coverage you have to get your head around, it's just not true it helps in avoiding a PI on a 50/50 with hand fighting or leaning bumping on a Receiver etc.
This is not a Pro Martinez reply, just an observation I see a lot, I think because it's a go to for announcers every time there's a close PI call.
Announcers, you know there wasn't much there I'm not sure what the ref is thinking but you know he didn't get his head around.

Remember when Butch hired Shupe from Penn State and everybody on here said great hire man, BOOM, BOOM. BOOM, look at his stats at Penn State but guess what we didn't have the talent that PSU had. Remember everybody said why are they starting Colton Jumper and then Shupe came in and Colton Jumper still started, sometimes it's the Jimmies & Joes.
Remember we've been in the Wilderness for 15 years and have sanctions right now.
I think Shoop was Banks assistant.

That should be a cheap buyout.

He was named 24/7 Defensive Coordinator of the Year in 2014, and FootballScoop defensive coordinator of the year in 2018.

He had Top 25 defenses 3 times at Vandy, No2 defense in 2014 at PSU,No14 defense in 2015,and in 2018 with MSSt., No1 defense/No2 scoring defense in the nation in 2018 with the Bulldogs.
