Time to move on from Tim Banks

I am just a casual Fan, not a football expert so I don’t claim to know exactly what the problem actually is. But I can make one simple observation; something ain’t working right and it is very discouraging to see this poor of a defensive result in year 3 of the new staff. We shouldn’t still be having the same absolutely embarrassing defensive debacles.
I seriously think Martinez and Banks need to go. The only issue I could see with letting Banks go is who to hire in his place? Martinez is easily replaced. But a good DC? That’s a whole other ballgame.

I wouldn’t mind throwing some money at Will Muschamp. Good recruiter and decent DC.

The problem is - what you SEE has nothing to do with the REALITY of what's actually happening on DEFENSE. The lens that you're looking from is clearly biased....that's the problem.

Spent 2 years defending the guy. He's had 3 years and most of the guys playing this year have been playing for him at least 2 of these years. The Vols still cannot figure out how to defend a forward pass and the linebackers still spend way too much time being out of position. To his credit, the talent level is either avg at best or the ones with the most talent are freshmen and have no experience.

Either way, it doesn't like the Vols can win a championship with this guy.

My last post on Coach Banks for now: I always, always, always prefer an attacking defense. I never want the defense to go down playing scared or even cautious. Some folks on here want Justin Wilcox back. I don't. It was excruciating watching his defense (THAT was truly "bend but don't break"). The last time we had a real attacking defense was Ken Donahue for a few years in the 80's. Many of us older folks remember swarming all over Testaverde. Banks is the first DC we've had since with that philosophy and that attitude. The first one who, with that team, may have been able to pull that off. You still have to have the players; but when it works it looks like Venables, and at times last year it did. He still needs two or three more playmakers, (and he needed Pili for the Florida game because he was brought in to be the defensive QB). Attacking, but with only one "explosive play" (two, if you count the 18 yard touchdown pass, which likely would have gained more) means we're very very close.

Like a lot of people have suggested. Tim Banks isn't going to get it done. UT should blow out USC tonight. But, I doubt it happens and game probably comes down to the wire due to Banks' inept defensive abilities. Tim Banks showed the SEC HOW NOT TO PLAY UF. UK is manhandling UF due to solid D play (not letting UF beat them by running the ball between the tackles) and gashing them in the run game. UT's run game needs to get better too. Hopefully, the return of Mays will make a huge difference for UT's run game going forward. BANKS NEEDS TO GO!!! GO VOLS!!!!

#fahrbanks ?

🙄

Spencer Rattler is going to get his tonight.. Wouldn't surprise me if they win the game. UT isn't very good right now. Got some issues on both sides of the ball. As far as Banks goes. They can fire him tomorrow and I wouldn't care. I've seen enough of his crap defense.

We need to fire the entire administration, as well as all the coaches at UT - across all sports. Start from scratch. Maybe burn Kneeland stadium down too maybe the whole city of Knoxburgh. Can we dig up Sherman? I’m sure they buried a good torch in his casket/mausoleum. Maybe we can pass a law in Tennessee to prohibit the color orange from use - ever. Purge the word from the dictionary and have the UT engineers build a Time Machine to go back in time and snuff out the first person that thought orange was a word. That whole family tree. Chop it down with the same axe that ole Abraham used on the cherry tree.
🤣🤣🤣

Honestly just the secondary bothers me to a degree where I think there has to be a change. Not saying banks needs to go but Martinez is terrible. I’m not expecting dominate defense or secondary play but we should see some progress. I see flashes of that at Dline and LBer. We look just as terrible at db as we did when this staff got here. It’s not just lack of talent; some of our guys look comically lost and exposed at times.

Good response to the panic-driven naysayers on VN. Those people enjoy trashing the Vols, no matter what; they almost hope for a Tennessee disaster so they can say "I told you so". Pathetic, eh?

The most frustrating part of this defense is that they will make great plays on 1st and 2nd down and then just decide to leave guys wide open for pitch n catch on 3rd and long. It’s like they get a team to 3rd and 14 and just think the job is done and then get embarrassed.

Slaughter and Hadden not playing lost the uf game.

Milton didn't play bad that night. Did you see how often we were in 3rd and long? Offensive line didn't create any holes for the running game and presnap penalties killed us
He missed some wide open guys in the first half that could of helped slow UF's momentum.. Those were not the fault of pre snap penalties..
