Time to upgrade

Look, I’m not disrespecting heupel at all for the job he’s done in the position we were in. But we are too prestigious a program to not be looking to improve when we can. We are in a position now where we can convince a proven head coach to take the job. Heupel has been paid well and been given every resource. And we just got embarrassed so badly that we some ha make anduld be questioning our coach. If I’m Danny White, I start putting out some feelers now. It’s been 2 years since our offense has been worth a ****. Flame away, I just think we could convince a good HC to take this job.
We ain't there yet. Now it's time to see if CJH is willing to step up, make some hard choices and jerk a knot in the staff and player's arses.

If he's unable to do that, then we'll talk...

Think about what you said! Offense hasn't been good in a couple years! What's missing? Hendon Hooker! These last two QB's just don't have what it takes. We don't even really run a hurry up offense anymore because someone obviously struggles with it, has trouble reading defenses, etc. My eyes haven't seen any improvement over the course of this season and that's not on Heupel. Sure, we light it up against Division II teams that pads the stats, but until we have another Hendon Hooker take the reigns, there's going to be ever more complaining on this board blaming everything under the sun, except the obvious

Dear Lord!!! This is just ridiculously stupid!! Have you already forgotten the 20 year 15 year dumpster fire he took over?!?!?!? If he stood on the stage at his opening press conference Terence and said “I’ll have us in the playoffs in 4years.” Everyone in the room would have laughed him right off the stage. There’s still some growth needed for the team, sure but this mentality is beyond drastic!

This is not true at all lol

He has never expressed one iota of interest in coaching. In fact when asked about it I remember he said he thought he would stink at it.
He is always very self-deprecating in his sense of humor. Do you want a winner or a big time lose of big games as coach? Are you content with winning games and no championships? Fine by me if that is your thing, but not my style.

Hey this just in. He's improved the team every f...ing year. We had an off night with a lot of players missing.

The only guy I would say would be the guy you replace Heupel with that is a proven winner is Urban Meyer. Not saying I want this to happen at all. Idc what he does with college girls or anything else in his personal life. Tired of the moral victories we as Tenn fans hold close to chest. Can he win a natty. Yes. Can he recruit elite playmakers all over the field. F*** yes. But that’ll never happen. We don’t need a new head coach. We need to hire an elite staff to go along with Heupel.
No way we would touch Meyer but you could pay him elite coordinator money and get rid of the stress which is what supposedly forced him out of college.

You’re an actual idiot if you think this.

It's 1000% on Heupel. He made the hires that are killing us right now. Horrible OC Hire, Horrible WR and Oline Hire and horrible Secondary hire.

I disagree on the improvement by Nico. Considering the $hitty pass blocking, all the dropped passes by the WR's, the inability to consistently get open, he's put up the respectable numbers. Also, on Hooker he was what, 26? Nico will be fine and will continue to get better. He needs his Oline to pass block better and his WR's to get open and catch the damn ball

Our offense started going downhill the day Cutcliffe left and Sanders was hired. He got credit for calling the national championship game and we slowly spiraled backwards as time went on. Sanders never added anything and we became stale. He was a average OC at best. A little better at just quarterback coach. This was Fulmers biggest mistake not hiring a proven OC after Cutcliffe and the biggest reason for our slow decline back then. GBO
I'm pretty up to speed on it all. Remember it well I remember winning the East in 2001and 2004 with him and I remember having a freshman QB beat UGA on the road and Florida at home. He wasn't Cut, there is no question about that, but saying his career here was average is a bit much. Id say for most of the time he was "good", not great. Obviously 05 was a disaster and there were a couple other years not great offensively, but can't say it spiral backwards when Cut left when 2001 was a phenomenal year with great production, a win in the swamp (two of those under his watch btw and a 2004 season that included two losses to undefeated Auburn. He wasn't great, but I'm not sure he was average. Id say overall, he was good.

Good common sense and I agree 100%

Just saw that Nico is first Freshman QB in UT HISTORY to win 10 games. Maybe there is something to that, rather than firing the coach who got us here.

I am as upset as anyone but Im going to breath and get some perspective.
Because he had more games to play?

he needs to not throw sidearm and be lazy in his technique

You’re suggesting Peyton Manning who’s never coached a game in his life, yet making an argument that you want a Championship caliber coach? 🤣

You people are absolutely insane.

You’re welcome. Looks like you stepped back from the ledge.

Best of luck with the lithium.
Yeah, massive overreaction after what was the worst game I’ve witnessed combined with a few too many beverages. Not my proudest moment. Still think we need to consider staff changes, prioritizing OL and receivers coaches.

So you are a Tony Romo type (who has never won a championship of any sort in all of his playing sports since a child). You just care about winning numbers and no championships. Josh just does not have what it takes to get us the next level. It is not your fault, but his own and he needs to pay the penalty. All the big games he has coached for TN, he has lost.

Uhhh.... you do realize CJH came here to take over the worst UT team in all of UT history (seriously, let that sink in a min) and has taken us to 7, 11, 9 and 10 wins since then while STILL with a scholly cap from Pruett?

The only reason we HAVE these "big games" is because of Heupel. Some changes do need to be made but all of this is a moving target with the new action in the portal and NIL. Nico though will be much improved next year I suspect and all the better because of the bitter experience in OK.

I mean, if you really want to go there, Heupel won a national title as a college qb and Peyton didn’t.

But this whole thing is stupid. You don’t hire someone with zero coaching experience beyond the “his own kid’s flag team” level to run a premier college brand.
