No not doomed its much too early. But why set yourself up for bad news?
High risk, high reward. I think it could be argued the downside of losing a commit is outweighed by the upside of accepting an early commit from an elite prospect.
Talent wants to play around talent, and it's easier to get more on board, early or not, when you have more elite kids in your class already. Unless you're Bama or someone of the like, it's awful hard to dig yourself out of that hole if you just start filling your class up 6 months before signing day.
newt your 50% for 2 years out would need to be weighed against 1 year out and so far. 50% may be bad for two years but if 1 year is 40% a 10% bump isn't bad.
even shooting 50% wouldn't be bad if you are taking 4* players.
So, just trying to be sure...
There are some here who would rather not take early commitments, for fear of decommitments to other programs, and instead, just let them commit early to other programs.
Asking for a friend. Thanks
With teammates like Teague and Knox, Butch and gang were trying to get their foot in the door at Blackman to get some momentum rolling. I don't blame them at all. I would take any commitment possible (from quality player) from that squad.
This kid isn't off the board for us, he's just opened it up. It was known by his teammates this was a strong possibility as I posted yesterday.
So much time here. Go out and win big this year and see what happens with all of these kids (minus Knox )
I agree but not two years plus. Early to me is after their junior year.
