Yes! Whatever LB's we have on the field, must be able to help in coverage.

Even someone like Banks becomes a liability because he struggles to find passing lanes, read QB, jump routes, etc.

Not really. He hasn’t proven anything on the field. So he could come here and be terrible. You nor anyone else knows that. Then again he could come here and be a great starter and help our secondary. Explain how that take is dumb.

Not sure I'd call it dumb or bad, but it seems the word is that staff is looking for young defensive talent in the portal (years left in program). That would seem to indicate that they're scouting potential over experience.

Pretty much. The portal isn't full of starter caliber guys at this point. You have to take guys that are good enough and hope for the best. He may be depth...he may become a starter if we're lucky.

But we have to use these spots, they expire this Summer. So no take is "a dumb take". The only dumb take is not taking anyone and letting these initial counters expire. Afaik these waivered "up to" 7 spots do not roll forward. Use em or lose em!

Unfortunately our starters at defensive back aren’t “starter caliber” either so it’s a wash. I think some on here are so wrapped up in getting elite that they don’t want to get better at some positions. We need immediate help at several defensive positions imho.
