Ncaa not going to do anything crazy. That much was made known when we announced our self imposed penalties and we did it in the basis of their own bylaws. We had a very smart law group working along with ncaa and SEC. they should have a solid idea of what was needed and how ncaa would respond to their decision.
Keep in mind we took some really drastic steps. This wasn’t a situation where we got caught and then worked with ncaa. We turned ourselves in because certain folks made it impossible not to because it was no longer ability to deny knowing anything for people that typically are shielded from these things. We not only fired a coach. We fired an entire coaching staff and recruiting department and AD. We also told kids involved they needed to transfer to continue their eligibility elsewhere. It was a pretty smart move imo to reference the NCAA own bylaws in our statement to not punish people that have no involvement. We have completely new everything in the building. I also like the comment that mentions don’t punish the innocent when the guilty are allowed to transfer elsewhere and compete in postseason
For all the "denial" folks whining about it, the approach they took was kick azz, IMO. It's the new way to do things since the old way of doing things no longer applies with all of the changes. The NCAA would have to deny their own rules and regs combined with applicable laws to rule against UT and heavily sanction as you point out. If they tried that it would leave them wide open to a lawsuit and black eye they would not want to handle.
Like Sampson just as much. Hayden is an awesome player, but it if it's between he and Justin Williams, then I want Williams.
Good luck at OSU young fella.
