'24 TN CB Jaren Sensabaugh

Jaren Sensabaugh quietly made his way back to campus this past weekend, and the Vols continue to show well in this one. He will take official visits and do his due diligence, but Tennessee will be hard to beat out, as they continue to push. Tennessee likes the ceiling for Sensabaugh and feels like he flashed a lot of potential when working in man coverage this fall.

8 wins next year would be the most wins the Vols have managed in a 3-year span since 2002-2004.
The span between 04 and now has been filled with 5 and 6 win seasons. An absolute desert of basement dwelling. Perspective is important so I agree with your sentiment. But if we are capable of having seasons like last year why on earth wouldn’t we want to go all in on that?

A fan being happy about and enjoying 8 wins next year has nothing do with whether or not the program goes all in on trying to win more than 8.

I don't know about being happy with 8 wins next year but what a tough schedule... The SEC is brutal. Tennessee is a top 10 brand in the country. A program like Miss St or Arkansas may never recover from what Tennessee has been through. We are right on schedule in my opinion. Thank you CJH! GO VOLS! BEAT VANDY!

We don’t play man coverage because we don’t believe the guys we have can play man well. So they’re recruiting guys who they believe can play man well so we can start playing man. Seems logical.
Yes I know all this. Why has it taken 3 years to recruit them? That’s plenty of time to recruit them and develop them, as well as get a few via the portal. In 3 years we only have one DB who can play man coverage? Gibson looked pretty good in man coverage against UConn (I know different competition) so why not give him more run and see how he holds up?

Heupel has had 2 recruiting classes. In his 2nd class, they got 3 CBs who are excellent prospects in Gibson, Matthews, and Conyers. But they were freshmen this year. Gibson likely starts next season.

You mentioned the portal. They got GJL, Turnage, and Hadden from the portal. Your 2 best CBs come from that group. But what other CB could UT have gotten from the portal who is elite? Guys are usually in the portal because they weren’t playing elsewhere.

When you walk into a situation in which you have less than 60 scholarship players (believe it was 57 that first year), an NCAA cloud hanging over you, and non-existent freshman class (the only remaining member of the 2021 class is Jaylen Wright), you’re not going to be at high end SEC level in your 3rd year. It’s ridiculous to expect that. DB is one position in which UT just isn’t there yet. But there are young pieces that give us reason to expect we will be. Gibson, Beasley, Matthews, and Conyer, are the future of this group. Sensabaugh and possibly Bates might also be.

Lol. They played a lot of zone against UVA and UF when we were healthy.

This is just excuses.
