I have to question if Heupel really wants a 'copter dad to deal with? This job is tough enough without that kind of distraction. Maybe it's something he's dealt with and has the answer for? You hate to condemn the kid because of his family, but they are kind of a package deal. Guess we're desperate enough in the secondary that we're comfortable taking chances with situations like this. Hope it works out.I’m not worried about his character, because I trust Heupel to discern wether or not this kid fits the quality culture he has built in the locker room here.
My concerns are mostly about the fact that I’m just not sure what this kid brings to the table that you couldn’t get from an average CB pickup in the portal. I’m sure I’ll get ripped by some for saying that but the portal has just completely changed my view on high school projects. He’s not going to be an immediate contributor. He probably doesn’t even play meaningful minutes till he is an upperclassmen just due to our philosophy here. So, why not just target an extra CB in the portal?
Feels like staff is reaching on this one but I’ll trust that this one works out in the end.
Dude I could care less what anyone on here thinks of me or what I post. Tons of people on here think I am a troll, an idiot or both. I don’t care. I love this message board. If what I post hurts your little feelings then there is always the ignore button. Plenty have me on ignore.I bet you think a lot of people here care about the craziness you think. Bless your heart.
We needed to close with Bates. Players like this are more of a project, or a gamble.Asked some friends at Ensworth about him. They said he kept his head down pretty well this year and he wasn’t an issue.
His Dad is passionate about things at times, but most of the time he has valid points. His delivery of said points could use some refining though. If coaches want the kid, then we have to respect that. I am sure if you looked into every players family you could find some that make you shake your head.I think dad is my concern.
As I said in an earlier post, if Heupel gives it the green light, who's to argue? I'm sure it won't be the first time he's dealt with this sort of thing. His Dad is passionate about things at times, but most of the time he has valid points. His delivery of said points could use some refining though. If coaches want the kid, then we have to respect that. I am sure if you looked into every players family you could find some that make you shake your head.
You can't hurt my feelings bud, ever. Just know I'm one of those people in the tons of people.Dude I could care less what anyone on here thinks of me or what I post. Only being a cancer when the play ain't adding up, questioning players heart and effort when they don't live up to his so yesYou equate being a cancer on a team to having the dawg in them that helps a team win? Wow, please do not ever get anywhere near coaching or leading young men or women in an athletic setting.
