“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” is a tired cliche that just isn’t true. I know plenty of good men whose fathers were not. You don’t judge a kid by his parents. If that were the case, our stories would all be written before we’re born.Just because you don’t have to see them that often doesn’t make it any less painful when you have to see the in-laws you can’t stand. And the risk is much higher the more they talk to and take a role in the kids biz. I would guess the apple hasn’t fallen that far from the tree. I’d steer clear of the whole family but that’s just me.
None of us know this kid. It’s up to the coaches to get to know him and figure that out…the same way they figure it out with every kid…not by judging his parents.
