'24 TN DB Boo Carter (Tennessee)

I don't recall every elite defensive player scoring 90+ yd td runs.
Plenty of those - that’s straight line speed. Which is even more disparate at the HS level.

Usually people are enamored by how much more agile and athletic an elite HS player looks with the ball in their hands.

They’re convinced they’re seeing Reggie Bush on film. 99% of the time - they’re not.

Exactly. SPECIAL, generational players who become top 5 draft picks do that. That's very different than every elite high school player.

That said, I'm fine with whatever they do with Boo and tend to think he'll be a Safey at UT, at least to begin with.
Lol what? Only special, generational, top 5 draft picks score 90 yd TDs in…. HS?

Really? Interdasting.

Didn’t say that. I was simply assuming you could discern the difference between EVERY elite high school player and a generational NFL talent. The generational NFL talent doing something does not prove that every elite high school talent does. It also doesn’t mean that some don’t.

It’s simple logic (in the literal sense…don’t confuse some for all).

So what are you attempting to say, lost in all that gobley-goop?

Boo has 90 yd td scores. Is he one of these?
SPECIAL, generational players who become top 5 draft picks do that.

Or is he like the vast majority of elite HS athletes that “simply look ‘electric’ with the ball in their hands”?

No. But top college defensive backs are generally their high schools best WRs/QBs/Special Team players
Obviously. They are in HS.

Boo is the best athlete every time he takes the field for Bradley Central High School.

It’s what makes them look “electric” by comparison.

Boo is outstanding Football Player both sides of scrimmage he excels at. I believe the coaches will know were he is able to contribute early and often because we need more exceptional gifted players on the field. Same as Matthew's he will play early and often at WR special talent plays. In CHRIST Alone

You think a freshman DB is going to play “early and often” at WR?

It’s really not as hard as you’re making it.

In reference to 90 yd TDs …. in HS
Boo has 90 yd TDs in HS

So is he “special, generational, top5” because he looks “electric” with the ball… in HS?

Or are you just flailing in your backpedal?

(Something Boo won’t do at Tennessee because he will be playing DB as an elite athlete)

seldon could and would if he played.
And I think will, when it comes his turn to play. Anyone with a modicum of sense could see that wasn’t going to be this year.

But the same arguments for why he was gonna put up 800 yds are running wild in this thread too.

“Electric with the ball”
“Talent will see the field”
“Won’t be able to hold him back”
“Just a different level”

Boo will hopefully be a great defensive back at Tennessee eventually. There is a very small probability he becomes an elite offensive playmaker though.

Not what I said about Boo. Yes On Matthew's. Boo quickest route to field is DB
Ah ok, I read your post as “same as Matthews - he [Boo] will play early and often at WR”

I think Boo’s quickest route to the field will be covering kicks on ST. He has the speed and athleticism to contribute early there.

You guys are fooling yourselves if you think he will play his freshman year other than special teams, not a knock on Carter its just we dont play freshmen

I said “……” ? It doesn’t appear you understand what anyone said.

I said Eric Berry is a special generational player. That’s because he was one of the greatest players in the history of UT football and an NFL pro bowler. You’re really not making whatever argument you’re attempting to make as well as you think you are.

I didn’t say Boo is or isn’t special/generational. Or that one necessarily must be to have a 90 yard touchdown in high school. The point I made was that EVERY elite high school player does not do that, as you said. And that’s pretty obvious. And easy to understand. It’s weird that you’re having such difficulty grasping this.

Yeah the staff seems extremely hesitant to put freshmen out there for any extended action during competitive games.

I hope they reevaluate that. I think if we had started Ricky Gibson (Jordan Thomas as well) earlier in the year the DBs wouldn’t have dropped off as sharply once Hadden went down. Our experienced DBs are closer athletically to NFL LBs than NFL DBs and limits our ability to run man coverage effectively.

100%

Jourdan Thomas is a lot better at STAR than Mcdonald is, and Gibson is a lot better than Burrell and Turnage and should see the field before them, heck he could even replace Slaughter in my opinion
