Pruitt isn't going to have the benefit of a mulligan year like our last 3 coaches did. If we miss a bowl, Pruitt's not going to be able to land the type of recruits he's going for. If we miss a bowl, don't expect to compete for championships any time soon.

UT did not have a four win roster last year. This program naturally recruits in the top 20, and there are three maybe four programs we face each year that recruit better. Therefore, there's really never an excuse for Volunteer football to lose more than 3-5 any given year.

Tennessee does normally recruit in the top 20 but how many of those recruits are from the state of Tennessee. The recruits in Tennessee are getting better but most classes are out of state kids. The in state kids better get on board or Pruitt want waste much time recruiting them.

Agree. Our coaches are used to winning at their previous stops.....now at a suck-arse program at the bottom of the conference. It’s gonna take em a minute to get this figured out and headed in the right direction. Gotta pray that Pruitt, who has been one of the very best assistant coaches in the country for awhile now, can find his footing quickly as a head coach and make it all work.

Football has made me sad for a while now.im just ready for the season to start.

I might just be foolishly optimistic like I have been for almost 10 years now but I think things will change once we start playing games. We don't have the best players for the coaches system but I believe they will actually resemble a competent football team and that's a start.

Wow, just...wow. Some of you need to step away from the message boards for awhile.

One TN player decides he’s not going to UT, and suddenly the entire program is in shambles and Pruitt can’t recruit? What is wrong with you people?

God, this whole thread is full of whining, bit!ching and hand-wringing. Every time I log onto this board I’m reminded of why I don’t check it that often.

Norton’s been UGA since the previous staff decided to sh!t the bed with his recruitment and running this program into the ground. It sucks, but that’s life.

Even if Pruitt is the answer (and at this point, he’s not done anything to convince me he’s not), it’s going to take some time to get this program back on track. Some of you need to sack-up or find another team to root for.

Look I'm not whining, and this is not based on missing out on one recruit. I made a similar post when Pruitt swung for the fences in February and struck out on multiple players.

I think it's pretty realistic to think that if Pruitt is going to beat out Bama, UGA, Clemson, and USC for guys they really want, he's at least going to have to make it to a bowl. I'm not a whiner, and I'm not a pessimist. In fact, I think the Vols go bowling this year if he can patch together a decent OL.

UT football is basically in put up or shut up mode right now. Gonna have to hope a lot of these guys hold out to see how the season goes, and that we are able to deliver some wins.

Good news is I saved money by switching to Geico. Accept our fate and leave the football to better schools.
