'22 TN DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss)

Content. Not ad hominem. What's your point? If you have no point then feel free not to respond.
I have a point. I think your post is wrong. He has exactly the same chance to be a bust today as he did before he played last night. The only thing that appears to have changed is your opinion of him. It does not sound to me like you had a very high opinion to begin with. That's fine. Not one single five star in this class has exactly a 17% chance. Some have less and some have more. To make the judgment after one game that he is highly over rated is just silly. You may end up being right, but I still don't believe you right now. If you don't want people to critique your posts, then don't post them. They are all going to get critiqued.

Historical data of 5* recruits shows that 17% get drafted first round and 50% get drafted. That's not me manipulating anything. Very simple math that can be verified with Google. Does he do what the 17% of first rounders did? Do you think most of them were out of shape in a critical season of their recruitment? I'm seriously curious about your answer to that specific question.
I did not say the general statistics were manipulated by you. I said you used your opinion of his actions to further manipulate the statistics to show more odds against.

All 5* fall within those statistics. You used your opinion to alter the statistics in favor of your argument. Your opinion has 0 statistical value, mainly because it is based on a miniscule sample size.

OK I appreciate this response.

I was excited to see him play. That's the reason I went to the game. I know the meme is that I'm uncle Rico pining for my youthful days of high school glory. But really, I only go when my nephew wants to go or when a big name comes to town. I was ready to be wowed by him. I wasn't. I've stepped back from my opinion that one bad game means he sucks. I don't think he sucks at all. I was just not amazed. That's fine.

So if I understand you, you're saying not all 5* recruits are created equal. I can agree with that. Your thoughts are that he is beyond the typical threshold of 5* recruits enough so that the odds don't really apply to him strictly? I can see that argument. I don't necessarily agree, but I see where you're coming from. Thanks for a thoughtful response.

There's my opinion and there's fact. He's out of shape. That's a fact that everybody agrees to. Do you think his showing up out of shape increases, decreases, or has no impact on his chances of being a "boom" vs "bust"?

You can't say it's fact simply because of third-party perspective.

I personally think he was out of shape and not giving 100% every play.

I also believe viewing 20 minutes of game play has 0% chance of effecting the odds of where he - or anyone - will be drafted in 4-5 years or if he'll be successful in college.

Serious question. Has the camp circuit been up and running as normal this off-season?

If not I could entirely see how Nolen may be overrated, I certainly don't know.

I hope we get the kid, we really need him, for recruiting, energy and optics for the program. Doesn't appear to be a whole lot left out there for us. Either way we are going to be missing quality and depth for the foreseeable future but at least with him we get a little energy and bump.
