Recruiting for kids of his tier has always been. It's why UT lost out on Cam Akers and Cam Newton. Nothing new UT has become cheap and passive. Admin has to be sold in on the sales pitch and willing to chip in. NILs are a joke at UT. Cookies and off-brand apparel on a level that kids get at HBCUs. We should be embarrassed as hell as fans that the BIG wigs don't truly care enough to make things like this happen especially when you have a HC who is not nor the majority of his staff known to be recruiting gurus. On top of this fans don't believe in patience so the infamous VOL twitter will be on his ass by year 3
I'm interested in learning about this state law and what's changingNo one who matters cares about vol Twitter. They had nothing to do with Schiano. Those of us who actually called people that Sunday did however. Wait till January on NIL. Something about a little old law goes into effect then. I know you work with players and have some insight but UT won’t be cheap for long and we’ve at times have tossed around too much money.
One thing I do know is you do not know what’s going to happen with NIL deals at UT. What we do know is that will change once we can do it and not be in violation with state law.
For whatever reason and I really do not know why, it seems we’ve decided not to pursue Nolan as hard as others. I like the results on the field and I’ll wait to judge recruiting after 23. Also, this guys main recruiter is Garner so you knocking him now? Sorry you no longer are getting the Golden Arches. Last sentence is a joke. Try not to strike out and bash us some more. One post last week you were saying watch out cause we were making noise then this crap. You are just baiting. I am happy right now and so are a lot of people.
Ok...I don't like some of the things that de1 posts, but I've got an issue with this. The guy isn't anonymous like most of us. We get to hide behind our screen names. An anonymous poster personally attacking a known person just because they don't like what is being posted is pretty low class.
If I recall correctly, I believe he also argued that TCU was a better fit for PerkinsHe tried to say UK was a better situation for the Wade Twins then turns around and says nothing about Heupel beating them on their home field.
No credit whatsoever for this staff.
Anything he says should go in one ear and out the other.
Isn’t there some state NIL law that goes into effect in January? Not sure what it says or how it changes things
Winning the best negotiator. Local used car lots will pay a kid a few bucks to tweet something out to feel like a booster but won’t move the financial status.Just my .02 (no sources), but I think lack of NIL deals is due to the lack of star power on the team. I would think some companies are taking a wait and see approach to see if UT can get out of the rut. Why spend money on NIL deals with kids who won’t sniff the NFL?

I doubt thatUntil the letter is signed this one is not over. Many here have not had a kid go through the recruiting process or have a kid be a top player in any sport. The weekend he committed was a big weekend for Texas AM, could he got caught up in the moment and pulled the trigger with others, sure. Could he received word on a NIL deal with a financial number, sure. Could he be a 17 year old being a 17 year old, sure. Tennessee is still talking to him, and Nolen and his family are still listening. If the staff was not all in on him, he would not of been at the game on Sat.
AP said he showed up late and left early Saturday. He said it was a “check the box” visitUntil the letter is signed this one is not over. This. I don’t even think Dr. Pepper has been playing the DJ Uiagalelei commercial anymore. I haven’t seen it in a while. Not to mention Ewers from OSU who hasn’t even seen the field.
The worst I've seen is him calling someone dumb "azz". That's not nice, but it doesn't quite compare to personal attacks based on someone's actual life/profession. His crap is pretty normal message board stuff. If you want to attack him personally, then put your identity out there and level the playing field. I've questioned his trolling of continuing to post accolades about the Wade twins, but I can do it without taking swipes at him based on his job or calling him a POS conman. Some of you are too dang sensitive and clearly care too much about his opinion.Right cause him calling people names whenever it doesn’t fit his narrative is low class.
Get out of here with that crap.
So, then, you’re suggesting we would have not taken commitments from any of the following players; Cason Wallace, Brandon Miller, Julian Phillips, Jalen Hood-Schifino, or Dillon Mitchell, had they wanted to come to Tennessee. We were in the top 2-3 for every one of those guys at one time. The extenuating circumstance is that we took 7 guys last cycle and 6 of them are likely to return next year.
The only way Barnes was gonna take 3 or 4 commitments this year is if 3 or 4 current scholarship players leave. In college basketball, you can only have 13 scholarship players in any given year. I think we signed 8 last year and we are not top heavy with seniors. Rarely, does a team sign 8 players in one class. We're gonna be upside down in a few years unless we experience some major turnover. So, then, you’re suggesting we would have not taken commitments from any of the following players; Cason Wallace, Brandon Miller, Julian Phillips, Jalen Hood-Schifino, or Dillon Mitchell, had they wanted to come to Tennessee. Sure, we couldn’t take all 5 of those kids plus BJ Edwards but sorry, I don’t buy into the idea that we just decided to stop recruiting them because we suddenly didn’t have room. You don’t invest the kind of time and money Tennessee did/does in recruiting top-30 kids to decide you’re not taking them a few months before signing day because you suddenly realize there’s no room at the inn. We didn’t have room this summer, either.
Nothing changed in terms of available space since summer, yet we are actively pursuing Angel Montas in hopes of adding him in the fall signing period. Do you suspect we’re going to somehow all at once arrive at the conclusion that we don’t have room for him, too?
I'm well aware of how college basketball recruiting works. I follow it, religiously. In today's CBB environment, you recruit as if you have at least one, if not two extra spots, which is what Tennessee was doing by recruiting the kids I mentioned by name. Anyone is a fool to think Tennessee was turning down any one/two of those kids because Victor Bailey or Uros Plavsic is hanging on to an additional year of eligibility at the end of their respective positional rotations. You are always looking to improve your talent, and when you can upgrade, you "encourage" guys at the end of the bench to seek other opportunities. See: Drew Pember, and Davonte Gaines. Those guys are the reason you signed 8 players instead of 6. And it will happen that way, again, this year. The only way Barnes was gonna take 3 or 4 commitments this year is if 3 or 4 current scholarship players leave.
