"Our customers are idiots" is rarely the pathway to a successful enterprise.

Respectfully disagree. History is filled w/numerous successful enterprises built on catering to the desires of idiots.

How do you otherwise explain the sustained success of state lotteries, reality TV, both major political parties and vaping?

I actually meant the opposite, as in enterprise disregarded what the "stupid customer" wanted ... I agree with your point as well. I didn't state it clearly.

As a teacher, I had to give a chuckle at vaping. It's rampant among the teenage population and you are correct, they're very stupid for believing it's "healthier than cigs" as they like to put it.

Generally speaking, sure, but not always either.

Sometimes doing exactly what the customer says they want leads to some pretty dumb products.

and sometimes it's better to say I know more about this industry and what's possible then the customer who has limited vision or imagination into something new.

and frankly, our fan base has a lot more Homers than Steves.

That's because fans are stupid and have really ruined the game due to dumb azz ADs listening to fans. Let me ask you this, do you think Auburn regrets that dumb ass decision they made last year
Right. Because it is "smart" to overpay someone then accept mediocre results, right?

FWIW, TAM won't tolerate it either. His leash is shorter than most imagine right now.

To respond to your "dumb azz" comment regarding Auburn... the quality of the decision to fire a coach that is not performing is distinct from the quality of the decision on who to hire as a replacement. The decision to fire someone can be correct due to performance... but the choice of replacement be incorrect. And... we have no way of knowing whether Auburn would have been better or worse without the change.

We know this all to well with Mike Hamilton leading the AD.

What is your definition of par, and how are you qualified to establish that level? I would venture to say the least successful coach in the SEC knows a hell of a lot more than you, otherwise we would see you pacing the sidelines making $$$$.
I would venture to say that no one on this forum is the measure of a successful coach, so the second half of your statement is pretty much meaningless.

I have taken a similar position. He has been referred to as a gentle giant...... don't think I ever heard that about Reggie White or Albert Haynesworth, or John Henderson.... prefer nail chewers attitudes. Reggie was a good and principled man but was kind of aggressive in sharing his values. I have heard accounts of him being respectful, but not meek. Prefer my linebackers to act a lot like Al Wilson. Just me I guess.
I'm with the coaches. If they want him then I do. If they don't then giddy up....

ADs don’t make any major decisions on what fans want. You have now proven beyond a reasonable doubt that you are a complete dumbass. A true legend in your own mind, and too dense for any self reflection.

I'm not a de1 basher, but I'd disagree with this for the simple fact that the SEC has at least half the conference ranked in the Top 25 all season, every year. Coaching can't be that bad.

Again name em and rank em. I’ll just say this in the East you only have 2 known and proven guys. Maybe even 1.5, in the West 3. That’s five in atheist whole conference and again ask Auburn South Carolina, and Vandy how they feel about the decisions they made last off-season.

You’re a fool if you think the statement you just made is true in reference to the ADs and decisions. Fans kept Schiano from being hired, fans got Mullen fired, fans got Orgeron fired, ADs pay attention to the dumb bs fans are uttering and make foolish decisions on hires/firings. Then get boosters on board and pay foolish buyouts. S don’t sound like such a fool tryna speak on me because you have no clue
