'22 TN DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss)

Funny because for months I've heard "he chose A&M because he didn't like RG's coaching style" but now it's about the cheating Pruitt did?

The investigation is over. Nolan went to A&M and therefore Tennessee didn't benefit from the violations. It's been 3-4 years and everything is settled. This staff didn't commit a violation with Nolan, and if Nolan had committed a violation he would've been suspended at A&M, no?

So how on Earth can we be barred from recruiting a player in this scenario? It should be a clean slate.

Either Nolan told us no, the staff doesn't want him for various attitude/behavior reasons, or we actually are recruiting him and most are talking up their 🐴

I am not sure they can make a player ineligible at only one school. If the NCAA thought he had violated their rules, he would have been suspended some games at A&M.
I fear that is a lousy assumption. There were violations reported to the NCAA and out of the 30 plus guys that left town, NONE of them were sanctioned at a new school. Doubt the offenders stayed here, and doubt the money was only directed to guys running out of eligibility. Not saying he WAS in violation, only that your logic of validating by the NCAA hammer just is not logical.

Here is my two cents. If Garner wants him then so be it. I think he would be a great addition to the DL. Instant impact player.

Did he play the rest of the year after being carted off at Neyland? I didn't pay any attention to them.

I thought he was lazy and had a bad attitude. At least thats what people posted on here when he chose A&M. Why do we want him now? Is he no longer lazy? Is his attitude better?

A&M says he’s lazy and motivated only by money. He’s extremely talented, but I don’t want him on the team.

If we somehow get him, I’d root for him all the same, but I’d bet we don’t even try

I KNOW nothing, but I would be surprised. The only thing that has me confused is Boo and others publicly approaching him. Would think he would know whether the staff had zero interest or not. So I am confused. Seen less and less peer recruting lately, but maybe I am just missing it.

I'm sorry but F everyone that got their feelings hurt and their supposed bridge burned. If it helps us win ballgames, we better damn well pursue him. All this, he is lazy BS sounds like sour grapes. The dude was very good this year on the football field and that typically doesn't happen by being lazy. I trust the coaches on what they believe is best for our team but everyone who says we won't pursue because he burned a bridge needs to grow a pair because winning cures all (including those burned bridges).

Those saying it aren’t the ones who actually have the authority or ability to pursue the kid. Just speculating. Even if they think they actually know more, no one really knows what went down with recruitment the first time around.

Funny you say that considering Garner was turned off by his work ethic.

You really Garner would waste his time trying to coach somebody who doesn’t want to be coached?

What are all these rumors based on? My memory of his recruitment was that we were deep in it all the way to the end and all the other noise sounded like sour grapes from our fans. Also, you are comparing a HS kids recruitment vs the recruitment of an SEC starter as a transfer. I also specified that I fully trust the staff to determine what is best for our team, but all these ridiculous narratives about burnt bridges are just dumb (in my opinion).
