'22 TN DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss)

With Big O and ONL likely coming back, I doubt we pay $$$e10 for a 1yr rental
I wish they would go ahead and announce their intentions. Puts us in a hard spot. If they leave we will need at least 1 DT from the portal. But they won’t announce till after the bowl, which puts us way behind

Why would you risk bringing in someone who's questionable in terms of work ethic into your position room? At Garner's age, I doubt he'd going to have the time, energy or patience to deal with anyone not fully bought in.

Why do we have this mindset? Alabama and Georgia stack 5 star on top of 5 star and then immediately go after players like Walter Nolen when they are available. Why? Because they know that it will help them win championships (and it typically does).

To be fair, if they come back

Then it’s those two, Hobbs, West, Bailey. If we get a DT, I’d go for someone with a couple years with potential. Now if they leave then leave I agree, we need to be recruiting guys.

I am just not convinced that we are in any position to not recruit a player of Walter Nolen's caliber. As good as our DE's this year were, would anyone here have turned down Verse given the opportunity?

Everyone remembers how good Cam Newton was for Auburn in 2010, but they don't have the season they had without Nick Fairley at DT. I'm not saying WN will have a Nick Fairley season but he has the potential to be that good and that would take our DL to the next level.

I agree with you. And his work ethic? That was 2 years ago. Nolan would be an immediate impact player on our DL. But because he nuked some bridges, well we just can’t go after him. Now watch him go to Bama and all of us will saying about him the same thing we say about Jared Verse. Man I wish he would have came here to TN.

I trust Garner who has over 30+ years of SEC coaching experience.

He doesn’t put up with half azzed effort.

To be fair, If the kid chose Alabama or Georgia it would be the same hard nose style coaching he would receive by RG.

I'm sorry but F everyone that got their feelings hurt and their supposed bridge burned. If it helps us win ballgames, we better damn well pursue him. All this, he is lazy BS sounds like sour grapes. The dude was very good this year on the football field and that typically doesn't happen by being lazy. I trust the coaches on what they believe is best for our team but everyone who says we won't pursue because he burned a bridge needs to grow a pair because winning cures all (including those burned bridges).
I don't think the staff cares if he hurt or did not hurt any of our feelings. If he burned them with CJH or CRG, then I doubt very much we see him in Pantone 151.

Exactly. Anyone think Saban puts up with lazy, half effort?
I guess we will find out when he signs with Alabama and we can all feel better because we dodged a bullet with that bad attitude and lazy work ethic. We call point and laugh about how desperate Alabama is for taking those lazy kids who are going to destroy their locker room. We can then all get together and have a good ole laugh when he goes on and has 10 sacks next season. Cant wait.

FYI, I don't actually expect Walter Nolen to come here (really wish he would though). I just think it's absurd the amount of people that act like we are too good for him and that he has some unredeemable attitude issue.
