'22 TN DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss)

Brian Rice on the Ainge show said last week that this guy didn't burn the bridges when he left, he nuked them. Said zero % chance he would ever play for Tennessee. That was last week.
Of course that would have been contemplating playing for Pruitt, right?

Why do we have this mindset? Alabama and Georgia stack 5 star on top of 5 star and then immediately go after players like Walter Nolen when they are available. Why? Because they know that it will help them win championships (and it typically does).
Better to have a five star that you choose not to use than needing a five star and not having any. Just my 2 cents worth 😉

And hopefully a healthy Weathersby
Weathersby was going to help us big time this year before the injury. If Thomas and Lott return along with Hobbs,West,Bailey and Weathersby things look a lot better. I am sure coaches are talking to them regularly about what they are planning to do. GBO

Where is this half azzed effort narrative coming from that you keep referencing? Literally, no one is questioning Garner.
It was probably the excuse that was made up when Nolen chose Texas A&M over UT. All he wanted was $$$$, and we didn't want him anyway because he was lazy and gave a half-assed effort.

You can't argue the kid's talent or that he would be a big addition to our DL. He's proven himself on the field. But I don't know a damn thing about how his visits to UTK went when we were recruiting him. So, if the staff sees him as a potential locker room cancer, not saying they are, but IF, then better to avoid him. It only takes one to ruin a locker room, no matter how talented they are. So as much as I would love to see a wrecking ball like Nolen on our DL, I'll trust the coaches' decision on this one.

i think everyone would agree that there's probably certain thresholds that would eilminate a kid from consideration...by any staff.

but i think instead of trying to think up everyone one of those thresholds, at this point, it probably just boils down to the simplest of reasons....there's been a coaching change and his position coach left. time to move on.

And what is that NCAA stuff? The punishment on UT has already been determined; I don’t see anything pertinent to Nolen in there no matter how many bags of McD’s he enjoyed

I think about it how it looks from a UT perspective. Asking him back knowing why he played here before might not be a good look to some people.

Nolan also wasn't mentioned in the report, a news outlet pieced it together and named him later, which would indicate hes clear to come home

No, but wasn't he offered cash during the recruiting process? Maybe I'm not remembering correctly
Pretty much every recruit is offered cash. Whether there is proof of it is what matters. I don’t remember Nolen being connected to the Pruitt payments, pretty sure that stuck on Nieds and his recruits (wanya, gray, to’oto’to, etc). But I’ve been wrong before

I dont want him tbh, he’s lazy, all about the money, and on his visit he Acted disinterested in anything RG was saying and was chewing gum blowing bubble’s in RG’s face. Plus the stuff tied to the NCAA
Yeah watching him play you can clearly tell he is lazy 😂😂😂😂😂. He would instantly become our best DL.
