Tennessee, Florida, and Texas have no income tax. I expect the states in SEC footprint to attempt to change that soon.

I'm old class of 75 .. State Runner-up in highest classification back then AAA .. played DB and 2 private schools on way to State Championship game .. it was COLD on Dec 6th 1974 .. state income tax isn’t a significant enough factor to determine the school regardless of NIL. I mean it could be a tiebreaker possibly but for the amount of money these guys are making it won’t matter that much.

It’s a major enough factor to steer some pro athletes from California and New York teams to Texas and Florida teams. It’s a pretty significant difference from there. OTOH, Georgia is 5.5% and and Alabama is 5% so it’s less, but a % all the same.

Edit: the more important factor obviously is earnable income (agreeing to your point of tie break)

Depends state to state, but one I saw was $500. Kids are thinking much higher than this obviously.

If I were being recruited and had no loyalties as a fan I wouldn’t let $5000 of taxes on a $100,000 contract deter me from going where I want to. JMO

Jordan Davis will be a high draft pick probably a first rounder this coming year. He would have been drafted last year if he came out. The dude is a monster. Most of the big time DL Kirby has recruited are still in school. They are why we had -1 yards rushing against them last year.

I'm not sure how much it will matter. State income taxes are usually miniscule compared to the federal one.

I have a pair of receiver gloves from a player on the team about 5 years ago. They are incredibly sticky. Makes me far less impressed with one handed catches.
