I think it's a little harsh to call him a fool. He's just overly optimistic and tbh, at least he keeps being positive in our dark period.

He plays the insider angle a little too much to not be taken as a fool. Probably a high school kid IMO.

Well, I'm not in the recruiting forum much anymore but I can see where fake insider s*** would get annoying.

And most players ranked 900th justify their rating. Will Russell be one of the outliers? Maybe. But chances are he doesn't play for 2 or 3 years and makes a modest contribution his senior year.

Well there is no need to lose sleep over it OD. Either he comes or doesn't. You have a lot invested in this particular recruitment, you mentioned coaching this guy when he was younger and I can see how it would mean so much to you for him to be a Vol. Fact is he needs to choose his own path or he won't be happy. If he is Orange great if not, oh well we tried.

Couldn’t sniff Roman Harrison’s jockstrap at the same camps over the summer, didn’t get an offer and Roman did. That’s honestly all i need to know about Russell. Simple as that

Precisely. He might be the second coming of Al Wilson but probably not. I hesitate to call him a "reach", but if he's only providing depth and special teams, he's still occupying a spot. I guess that's better than taking Harris and Pickens who are academic risks and costing a spot with no contribution whatsoever, but honestly, I'd take a swing with those two guys and Wright and call it a year. Heck, we get just one of those two guys along with Wright ,and I suspect we'll come out way ahead. As I've said, there are no guarantees with any recruit, but based on film and offers, I like my chances with Harris/Pickens over this kid. No offense to him. Wish him well, but I'm not going to be upset if he doesn't sign with UT.

Gotta be honest, I don't have a clue who Chris Russell is. 1st opened this thread by mistake but stayed for the Dyersburg sewer project, the Mayor and the best restaraunt in a town I've never visited.

Russell was gonna have an instant fanbase from this thread alone haha. However, if he's enamored with the Aggies, good luck.

But *IF he's disrespecting UT for "late" offers, step brothers, whatever and snubbing us on social media, then adios. Exact attitude I want rid of on this team.

Trying not to be too judgmental, that's why I said "*if" but definitely had an unnecessary negative feel. At least in my opinion.

But still, I'll leave it at if.. cause I don't know his true intent.

Or first year coach didn't like the majority of the class in the state this year and let them go elsewhere. They didn't fit what he was looking for except maybe as a back up plan? Always two ways to look at things. Time will tell if you or this coaching staff is right. I do believe they know exactly what they're looking for in a player and are not going to take kids who don't fit that profile. Might ruffle some Tennesseans feathers, but I don't really care where the kid grew up. Give me the best players you can get regardless of where they call home. We look at recruiting in-state kids as building a "relationship/pipeline", but in todays world of college ball, a coaching staff cannot afford to take a kid just because he's at a TN high school and bleeds orange. He has to be what they feel is a winning sec talent. They know they have to win and win now or they're unemployed....especially at a school like UT.

I hope he is a better evaluator that all the other schools that wanted the players! I want him to be successful but we at this time are not Bama, we can't pick and choose who we want, we have to recruit like heck to get players! Maybe these Tennessee instate kids that are going to other power 5 schools do not fit the system coach is trying to install. We will see

Do not care where he goes. Worry about the ones we get not 3 to 4 yr bench warmer at a&m or on the crappiest team in the sec. Good luck and hopefully this thread dies.
