'19 TN ILB Christopher Russell (Texas A&M signee)

Idk but I wouldn't mind signing him since three sec teams are making him a priority. Looks unlikely now but the kid must have talent to be this sought after
Strikes me as a “best of the rest” type player.

When compared to all the other “most wanted”, nobody much wanted him. But now, after teams are 80-90% done after the early signing period, he’s one of the best left 3star type players. Would’ve been nice to add him for depth, perhaps he would’ve even been a really nice player who started.....but not likely.

We swung at him late, kid got offended that the in-state school didn’t offer him according to his timeframe, oh well. Frees up a spot for 2020 when the instate talent is much more to JP’s liking.....works out better for us in the long run imo.

Why in the world is anybody angsting over a kid like Russell? This recruiting class is filled with players who wanted to play for the Vols. They committed early without a lot of drama, stuck to their commitment and are excited to be at UT. It's a top 15 class with good chemistry, and the last thing we need is a recruit coming in with an attitude-- and this kid has one. Let him go elsewhere.

I just feel like OD has let us down. Why didn't Russell even take a visit?

I respect your posts but question if we really know what went on, is going on with Russell.

Well, think I'll let it play out despite your promises of negativity.
I do remember your constant guarantee of Justin Martin being the best get of his class. Excuse me, 2nd best get. I believe you said only Drew Richmond would pan out better.

Nothing wrong with predictions, we all do it and miss. But your talent evals fall under "suspect" for the time being.
I thought Martin would be a great player, but I don't ever recall saying he was the 2nd best player in that class, and I don't think I thought Richmond was the best either. I could be wrong though. Looking back I likely would've thought Phillips would've been the best because of what he did in the Army game followed by Richmond and Jennings and then probably Kamara and Martin. I hope I'm wrong on most of this class though

This.. Not now nor ever have been worried where this guy ends up. Frankly I hope the spot he would've occupied is saved till next cycle...

As far a Russell goes, IMO, his recruitment BLEW UP very fast down the stretch and, for better or worse, it went to his head..

Yeah, I won't argue over wording but I'm still not buying your predictions on this class as anything meaningful.

Martin and it's not even close. This guy has the potential to be an All Conference player if not All American. He's tall, fast, and rangy there aren't many corners like him. Could end up being the next Sherman with his size and athleticism. Him and Cam would give offenses a nightmare. He's my number 1 want for this class and I would imagine he is close to that on the coaches board as well.
What's the deal with Martin anyway? I'd really hate for us to lose out on him. It would be almost as bad as losing Richmond. This guy is going to be an elite corner in college and is by far the best corner we are in it for. I really don't understand why we would take Miller or Amadi over him.

At 12:00 pm on Wednesday he will choose. I’ve been invited to be there. I’m going to go, but no matter where he chooses, no one can be mad at the situation. It is clearly up to him, and I told him that. It is a very fluid situation, and it hurts, but to all of the Tennessee fans, they’ve got to understand that some things happened at the last minute. I’ve read all of y’alls comments, and to those that said that I remain optimistic, yes I have. If you think that I’ve given up even now, for what has happened, I won’t. I’m going to fight this all the way to the end. If there’s only one person left out of all of the Tennessee fans to remain hopeful then it’ll be me against the world that he comes here. I’m not fighting you, but I’m going down until the ink runs dry. I didn’t come here to waist my time for this, and I certainly didn’t want all of you to give up either, but to those that really wanted him here, then it must be painful. I’ll going to apologize for this thread going weird, out of context, and certainly threw me for a loop.
Bro you can’t even spell waste right. Stopped there
