'19 TN ILB Christopher Russell (Texas A&M signee)

Yeah mine too, bitching about where a 17/18 year old kid decides to play collegiate ball, something 99% of this sub wishes they couldve qualified for, isnt a healthy hobby lol. Not saying youre doing it of course, but good lord wishing a kid's failure because he isnt going UT is pa-the-tic.

You are misrepresenting what's been said, here. Most are shaking our heads and wishing the fellow well, somewhere else. He could have walked through our open door. He didn't.

Um, no, I never wanted to play football. I didn't see anyone wishing he would fail, but I may have them on ignore. There's just not any news on anyone else so all we have is the unsolved mystery of Dyersburg.

Russell's recruitment is a mystery, and we'll probably never know what really happened. My impression is that Russell was on the bubble for a time and did not know how to say yes when his opportunity opened, as we think it did. He is very talented, but there are always world class athletes on our board.

That’s why I say I’m interested to see if the full story ever comes out. Something happened to piss him off. What happened determines whether he’s a snowflake or a victim of the process. Either way he’s gone so whatever, hope he doesn’t have regrets.

Inquiring minds want to know.

This is true. So we didn't offer Logue as early as GA? Okay... he camped there a week before here. I'm glad that he wanted to see guys before offering them. Anderson we messed up, no doubt. But the other guys are entitled cry babies. They can go to GA.

Good thing is, this stuff won't happen going forward. If the instate guys we want go elsewhere, it won't be because we didn't offer them in time or anything like that. All the guys we want in the 2020 class have already camped and already have offers and the staff has already prioritized them.

The staff didn't mess up with Anderson. He was coming off a bad injury and the staff wanted to see how he would progress. Similar to the Mississippi DL we are recruiting. After a solid Senior season the staff atttempted to turn up the heat on him, but he was already happy with SCe.

He at least has legit reason to have resentment unlike russell and logue. We didn't accept his commitment twice. At the end of the day of the staff was that iffy on him then maybe it's best for both sides he went to s car

So are we really trying to talk ourselves into he didn't visit bc he is going to blue shirt ? I call BS the kid isn't coming here.

No. Nobody believes the guy that shows up before NSD with info on everything. That's like what ole Bam would do. Pruitt had an inhome visit before early period so he can't blueshirt

At this point, where he goes is irrelevant, but I am curious if he confronted said coaches and asked them what was said? If not, then he's obviously just looking for a reason to go elsewhere. I do find it hard to believe that any coach at any school would talk negatively about a recruit they supposedly want in public like that, especially in said recruit's hometown. Makes zero sense, which is why I'm thinking it's either made up or completely blown out of proportion.
A coach would be slitting his own throat per say if this is how he went about recruiting. If recruiting is the life blood of a program, and it is, then trashing a recruit anytime, let alone publicly in the recruits hometown is a reputation/relationship killer. I hardly think our coaches knowing the importance of recruiting, especially in a rebuild would do that.

Russell is a nice player but he was a fringe player for most schools. In other words they had to strike out with others first. I wish the kid nothing but luck.

That said IF and I think it's a pretty big IF he's saying this nonsense about the coaches trashing him at a restaurant, grow the hell up and take responsibility for your decisions. You don't need to make up some BS story to placate the locals into understanding your decision. Make your decision and own it.

should have gone to the dairy queen grill & chill instead. what happens at the dairy queen stays at the dairy queen.

or this large, empty adjacent field. surely no prying eyes or eavesdropping going on there.

Do not underestimate the 6 buck lunch deal at DQ. Double burger, fries, drink and a sundae.

He’s trying to save face with the locals.

But he is not saving face by publicly pouting about the University of Tennessee's coaching staff. We saw another report that he did not like something said while he was at Tam. Early in his recruitment, I said that Russell was not a head case. I retract that because the behavior we are seeing is not normal. Badmouthing his recruiters in soap opera fashion is a ridiculous look, a big red "attitude warning" flag. I'm sorry it happened.

Are we sure those posts that said those thing were him him making them? I don't know how to tell.
