'19 TN LB Kane Patterson (Clemson commit)

No, but has Urban been found guilty of anything? Anyone can be accused.
Doesn't really matter if he has guilt in a legal sense though he may. It actually helps those in competition with him for recruits if this drags on a long time. The more it stinks... the more likely kids like Patterson thing there's too much risk in signing with tOSU without knowing the fate of Meyer AND of some potential sanctions. I don't know what kind of conduct rules the NCAA has here but there could also be some self-imposed punishment to placate the avalanche that's about to hit the AD.

Here's the thing...

The head coach of a football program...

The first task is to put together a staff...

The job entails (amongst other smaller details):
1) Ensure your entire program is compliant with NCAA rules.
2) Make sure the staff that was put together stays within all university policies and does their job to a satisfactory standard
3) Enforce infractions against university policies by staff and student-athletes so that they address the root cause of the issue
4) Approve schemes/gameplans and coordinate your staff to properly implement them
5) Handle all media dealings
6) Oversee recruiting
7) Make the final decision on whatever it is pertaining to the football program whenever the need arises

The fact this is even a story is a clear failure of several of Urban Meyer's duties. If something is found by the media to be going on within your program... as the head coach, you should be well aware of it. If you're not, you are either:
A) Too incompetent to be running that program
B) Attempting to cover up an issue so it doesn't get out to the media

Pick your poison which rope hangs you the worst

In this day and age, whatever happens is going to be seent by somebody, somewhere, sometime, no matter what it is. The main thing you have to do is just not blatantly lie on camera... you can no comment... you can say you're dealing with it internally... you can handle situations lots of ways without giving any information. There's zero reason to fall flat in your face in a press conference on a lie. There are too many reporters that are way too good at their jobs covering high-profile programs to not spring a leak when you start down that path.

That's my take anyhow... he's a great coach, and he'll find a job elsewhere eventually, but he handled a high-profile program poorly and there's no excuse for it. He failed to do the basic duties of his job, and that's why this is a story.

I think you’re possibly confusing a court of law VS the level of proof that a 100 million dollar a year athletic program will need to protect itself in the #metoo/Title 9 era. Urbs is about to walk the plank.

Not confused about that. Just think everyone should get the same treatment and there must be actual proof but if OSU wants to fire him then so be it. It does not look good, I'll give you that.

He should have joined a Union and then he may just get time out for a bit.

From a legal standpoint though, his wife is in direct violation of her title 9 clause due to allegations against her husband's organization within the university.

Hard to see how inaction doesnt justify termination of both given the overlap of responsibility.

Not so sure about getting another job. What Briles did at Baylor was to me every bit as impressive as anything Meyer has done, and he’s going to coach in 🇮🇹. Plus CUM already had a bad rep as an enabler. JMO.

Yeah, that my be the kicker.

Damn. Urban and that whole staff needs to go. If the coach's wives know, those coaches know too.

What gets me, and has been somewhat glossed over...
At B1G Media days, Meyer said in 2009 he was told about that incident. He said he didn't think it was a big deal, and he and his wife told Smith and his wife to get counseling because " they were a young couple just trying to figure things out".

Meyer then said he received a message about the 2015 incident, and there was nothing to it, and he couldn't believe anyone would make up such a story.

Later, when asked why he kept Smith on staff, after multiple reports of Domstic Violence, Meyer's comment was "I have to consider what's good for our PROGRAM, and he is a good coach".

Fast forward to today, with the texts, interviews , and photos...Meyer credibility has taken a big hit

That's a good point.

LOL

I believe I found Murphy's comments but nothing that proves Urban knew. Again, it will be his word against hers in the end.

From the Clay Travis article:
Two weeks after the Oct. 25, 2015 incident, a Nov. 5, 2015 text exchange between Lindsey Voltolini and Courtney shows Meyer talked to Zach Smith about the incident.

Lindsey is the wife of Brian Voltolini, considered one of Meyer’s most loyal staff members. Brian is Ohio State’s football operations director and has been part of Meyer’s staffs for 15 seasons at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State.

Courtney: “(Zach’s) trying to make me look crazy bc that’s what Shelley is saying (he’s doing)”
Lindsey: “He (Urban) just said he (Zach) denied everything”
Courtney: “I hope urban is smarter than that”
Lindsey: “He (Urban) doesn’t know what to think”
Courtney: “I don’t really care. Ya know”
Lindsey: “Yeah, don’t worry about urb”

I hope everyone that is involved is let go for this ordeal. I hope we hear the termination and/or campus/program ban of sCUM, Brian Voltolini, Hiram De Fries, Earl Bruce, Zach Smith, Shelley Meyer and whomever else is responsible for these events within the last 6 months. I can't believe this event and then to hear the intimadation of the Victim by all of the people involved, she must have been in a constant nightmare.

also PoweredbytheT you stated: you can handle situations lots of ways without giving any information. There's zero reason to fall flat in your face in a press conference on a lie. In actuality this report of everything started in 2009 was out there and never sealed. If any beat-reporter knew the slightest thing about a grad asst./intern having DV issues and made it come to light this whole thing would have not started but it took a guy who is on severance to dig up all of this because he probably was bored.

The devils advocate could say that law enforcement looked into every one of these things and walked away.

I feel sorry for Courtney... I can’t imagine having to go through that... Meyer will get what he deserves.. I just wonder if his staff will as well..

Some of those texts were outright scary. He is psycho. There was one that was weird like he was talking to her then forgot mid text he was talking to her and said he would kill that b. Guy was a lunatic

I believe Davis's wife did secure a restraining order/protective order. Don't think that would indicate law enforcement "walked away".

Law Enforcement did walk away, Courtney had to apply for the order and it was granted by the court. Smith was only arrested (July 18') after violating that order (after dropping his kids off). He was never arrested for any of his prior alleged abuses.

Yeah not their job to run and tell media. They weren't hiding the police reports etc. all right there if anyone had reason to look
