I appreciate that you are a coach, but I seriously doubt the staff would have offered him if they thought he would not contribute for at least three years.I can tell you right now after helping coach at MTCS (my high school alma mater as well), Jesse is a bit of a project. Honestly don’t see him making the 2-deep until maybe senior year. He is a bit slow and his footwork needs a lot of work. He also is just a super nice kid and he doesn’t really have that crazy tenacity that really good lineman have when on the field or in camp
I truly believe the staff thinks they can get it out of him. I think he has a sense of pride when it comes to UT that makes him want to play harder. Current issue with him that is very correctable is he is slow with first step and not quick with reacting to lineman with multiple good moves. The bigger long term issue is that UT will have to keep his motor going a whole game, as he has the reputation for taking drives off and not always coming through when the play heavily relies on his lead block.I appreciate that you are a coach, but I seriously doubt the staff would have offered him if they thought he would not contribute for at least three years.
No high school coach would say this about a player. You are trying for some cred and failing miserably.I truly believe the staff thinks they can get it out of him. I've watched him play a few times and have a hard time believing a coach would post this about him. He often plays both ways since his team only has 30 something players. The level of competition is obviously less than the Riverdales and Oaklands in town but if the coaches evaluated him at camps than it was around talented players. He will need some time in the weight room but I think he moves more like a tight end than a lineman which is what you want in a potential tackle. He also looks closer to 6'7 to me than 6'5. He is a big boy.I truly believe the staff thinks they can get it out of him. I think he has a sense of pride when it comes to UT that makes him want to play harder. I don’t care about street cred on here. I barely ever post. I’m just telling you what I have seen. I don’t live in the boro area as of this fall but after going through summer workouts and camps helping out Dbs, I got to see plenty of Jesse. He 100% looks the part. I hope he comes to UT and proves me wrong. But in general, when he has played anyone with length and speed he has struggled. He has improved year to year but I can tell you multiple MTCS coaches were happily shocked when UT offered at the camp.No high school coach would say this about a player. Let us know the final scoreWatched the big game today and not sure he missed a down on offense or defense. Hard to guage strength in this division of football, but he moves well and was easy to pick out sealing the edge on offense, as well as being downfield when the runners cleared the line. Made some significant stops after covering a lot of ground when the plays went to the other side of the line, as it appeared they did not attack his side much.
Not a plodder for sure. Be interesting to see his massive frame after some weight room and training table time on the Hill. He is two minutes away from taking home the trophy currently leading 28-13.
