I wasn’t trying to convince you of anything. I’ve never stated the above nor do I believe stars are the end all be all. But I get your need to exaggerate for dramatics.
You really have no self-awareness at all, do you? That's standard fare for you.... and you don't even use blue font.

So why have you said this kid isn't someone the staff should have recruited? You have pointed to "stars" and then the offer list. But now stars aren't the "end all be all"? Good to know you changed your mind.

Only time Hole “complains” about a recruit is when the said recruits offer list isn’t great, other than that Hole supports any kid committing to UT.

I’ve read this five times and then played it backwards on my record player to try and find the shot at me. If it’s there, it’s hidden well.

A tentative and confused thanks(?)

I disagree. Lineman were hurt because their knees and shoulders couldn’t handle the size we needed them at. That could’ve been S&C too, but we produced zero NFL lineman after Dooleys guys moved on. It was disgraceful that Brett Kendrick played with a concussion because we had no other OL vs Kentucky in 2017.
But this is 2023 and two coaches later.

It doesn’t matter where he is ranked now….. it matters where he is ranked in four years.
well they don't have star rankings after they start college.
So if he doesn't improve his star rankings right now, then he won't get any better in college

We still b*tching over his commitment?

Thought Heupel knew what he was doing or is that only when he gets players with 4-5 stars next to their name?

Better late than never when it comes to BOOMing!

BOOM!

Name the project QBs and corners we have had since Heupel.
So far, all of the QBs. Some bounced but Hooker and Milton were both rejects thought to be busts.

Nico and now the kid from GA will represent a change from that.

OL is absolutely a position where you are as likely or more so to see the great ones "built" rather than found. In all the argument about "stars" some things have been ignored. Both of these recent commits appear to be really, really smart. Both look very nimble on their highlights. Both show some nastiness. Both have good height and length but need bulk. All of that seems to suggest a very specific profile that they're recruiting to without any regard to stars or who else likes a kid. I don't know if it will work or not... but IIRC Heupel's OLs that dominated at Mizzou were made up of a bunch of nobodies who were well developed.

Did you see the video with the kid from Colorado? He said one of the reasons he committed is that Heupel and Ellerbe was straight with him. He asked Ellerbe where he was on UT's "board"... coach didn't try to snow him. He was 5th. That's both good and bad. One, you have to wonder where they stand with the 4 above him and who they were. Did UT miss out on better prospects? But two, it means that regardless of ratings and all of that he is considered VERY talented. I imagine everyone in the top 10 on UT's board at each position is considered a very good prospect.

If coach JH is willing to offer him a scholarship, I believe when is is a Jr, he will be better than a bunch we have had in the last few years.

There use to be a publication that re-ranked them…. I have always thought we shouldn’t feel like we should be recruiting like Bama, Georgia, or Ohio State near the beginning of the Heup era… we should be more like Clemson who had great evaluations with very few misses. They kept growing to the point where their evaluations matched the star ranking everyone wants. Clemson averaged from 11-15 ranked classes but were top 3 every year when re-ranked.

Thing is… when Butch was here we all boomed these types of commitments.

Then when Butch left, we all were glad we were done taking 260lb tackle projects.

And now we’re back to acting excited about taking a 260lb tackle.

If you’re just gonna be a cheerleader, so be it.

Considering the offensive line prospects were in on - Calhoun, Easley, Westphal, Calloway, etc - it makes little sense to take this commitment now.

Neither committ was 260..275 and 287..plenty of room to grow.

I thought I'd read that the staff had pushed him up to second on the board once they saw him...?

ETA:

...He said he first contacted Tennessee offensive graduate assistant Kevin Pendleton...to let the Vols know about his decision. “And then, just on the same phone call, I told the whole staff,” Ginther added. “They were so hyped. They said they’d just had a staff meeting and were, like, saying how much I moved up their board. They said I moved up to, like, (No.) 2 or something, because I was with the team and everyone the whole weekend, and they all loved me, I guess. So they were just saying, like, ‘How can we get this kid?’ and all that stuff. And I called them, like, two minutes after the meeting, so it was pretty cool. They were super excited — every single one of them.”

So, either he's lying, the staff lied to him, or they don't give a **** about ranking services and think he's the second best known prospect they can go after.

You're talking about Ginther in the Jesse Perry thread.
