I gave an opinion of his performance Friday. I did not say it means he won't be a good player at UT, that UT shouldn't have offered, that Heupel can't mold him, or any of the other nonsense other posters have imputed to anyone who dares say they weren't impressed with his performance Friday night. I haven't said any of those things. The same can be said to you. When you give an OPINIONATED assessment on a player you have to put up with other people's opinion as well. Also, you can put any other QB in 25 class behind that offensive line, inconsistent WR play and terrible offensive calling and guess what the results would be the same. To judge the talent of this kid because of the talent he plays with is not the smartest move IMO
There’s nothing to assume.Did he make a mistake though? It was well known that Hooker wasn't performing well in practice up to that point which is why he rolled with Milton first. He even stated that lol. Hooker at some point just started clicking after that Pitt game. But assume what you want.
His whole junior season was similar to what we saw on Friday. Why does this continue to be a topic. It is Tuesday, let's see what developes and move on. No, George didn't play his best as many of his team mates didn't either. Still a HS kid and not sure about his coaches.
“Heupel knows QB’s” in one quote but also…I gave an opinion of his performance Friday. I did not say it means he won't be a good player at UT, that UT shouldn't have offered, that Heupel can't mold him, or any of the other nonsense other posters have imputed to anyone who dares say they weren't impressed with his performance Friday night. I'm putting up with other's opinions. I'm not putting up with strawmen.
As for the "talent around him" argument, generally, when you're watching a QB and his helmet doesn't move from the time he receives the snap until he releases the ball (with no pressure on the QB), then that ball is intercepted...that's on the QB. My biggest concern with him since I started watching him is if he sees the field. He just doesn't appear to be processing. Lots of stare-downs. But Josh Heupel knows more than just about anyone when it comes to developing QBs, so if he thinks he can fix it, I don't doubt him. But thinking JH can fix it is not the same as pretending it isn't there.
Gmac shares the blame with the team, but you’re crazy if you don’t think he isn’t a great HS QB with over 50 offers to his name…again football is a team sport and the QB is only as good as the team around himI’ve seen GMac play 4x now. Hope he’s a great college QB, but he’s not a great high school QB. It’s not his coach or teammates’ fault. At some point, it’s him.
Fine. Opinions can be different, but still questionable by all objective measures. Objectively speaking, GMac (along with his team) looked like slaw on Saturday, and for lots of reasons, many out of his control. Others were in his control.Or different from yours…WHO’s to “QUESTION”?
I’d also wait until he doesn’t have basketball taking up his offseason and can actually gain weight and develop.BA has a lot of issues. QB isn't really one of them. They are too small to win games in that classification for one thing. He was a 5 star because when he had a good team around him his Sophmore year he lit it up. Having guys you trust blocking for you is probably playing a part. Honestly most kids in his situation would have likely transferred. Sure I agree he played bad, BA hasn't been good on the lines for a couple seasons now. All I am saying is the kid had a rough game. Maybe more than a few. However I don't think we should be continously dragging the guy.
That’s why we have the OBJECTIVE posters like yourself who’ll defend the commits of other programs whilst holding feet to the fire on whether ours are “acceptable”.Fine. I'm just not sure how anyone who actually watched the game came away believing he looked "fine". Even his staunchest supporters seem to acknowledge he didn't look great, but they just excuse it as being anyone's fault but his, which is a separate issue, altogether. If he had committed to Bama 8 months ago instead of Tennessee, most of the water carriers in this very thread would be skull-dragging him for his performance instead of excusing it. That's not necessarily earth-shattering. Lots of people are blinded by their affection for their own.
If I'm impressed with a player, I don't care to give that player credit regardless of his affiliation. If I think one of our guys isn't cutting it, I'm not afraid to acknowledge it. I'm not sure why that is a quality worthy of your witty ire. There are plenty of times I've defended our own and criticized our opponents, too. That’s why we have the OBJECTIVE posters like yourself who’ll defend the commits of other programs whilst holding feet to the fire on whether ours are “acceptable”.
The ignore feature can improve your VN experience when used to eliminate the posts from guys who add little to nothing to the discussion except to critique other’s opinions. I’ve got 9 guys on ignore and it’s eliminated 80% of the petty bickering from my viewing. Most of the crap comes from just a few guys.If I'm impressed with a player, I don't care to give that player credit regardless of his affiliation. I assume you couldn’t read the post to which he was responding…or this one. Yet we’re blessed with your take. Just in case, I don’t think you’re going to get more than 50% that agrees that’s “ALL I do.” You have yet to submit a post that I give a crap about and I’m slipping by never utilizing that feature for your stammering, unintelligible garbling. The ignore feature can improve your VN experience when used to eliminate the posts from guys who add little to nothing to the discussion except to critique other’s opinions.
