'22 TN QB Ty Simpson (Alabama commit)

Wait, I thought JH was a heisman runner up QB who has a great track record for developing QB's and runs an exciting high powered offense... why would the kid want to jump from this opportunity? It's certainly better than the Chaney, weinker, and gump show....

Prob bc he’s never met Heupel in his life (just guessing here, maybe he has?).

If he chooses Bama or Clemson, who still have the same exact HC that he’s likely spoken to numerous times and met before, it shouldn’t really be that surprising.

Let’s not overthink this.

not over thinking this.... asking a question... a lot of kids, especially instate, commit to the school, not the coach, but maybe that's what he is/was doing... Hopefully JH has a chance to meet/speak with him before he makes his decision... if he was thinking about coming here in our chaney dreadful offense, then this would certainly be an upgrade and showcase his talents..

I hate that Simpson may let his relationship with Saban make the decision given Saban is unlikely to be there 4 more years. The guy has to retire pretty soon.

Here’s my 2 cents:

Ty Simpson has wanted to pull the trigger for a while now, but he saw the same product on the field we did this year. So naturally he kept his options open and was talking himself into making a business decision vs an emotional decision.

Then Pruitt gets fired and we hire CJH. Ty’s dad is no dummy, he probably has a decent breakdown of what CJH’s offenses look like. Ty talks to CJH his first day, Ty knows he’s priority. At that point, he’s back to emotion again, he’s wanted to go to Tennessee but needed a reason to do it.

Now he has a reason, play at the school he wants and play in an offense that will highlight his skills.

One last thing, dads a coach, he knows people move. Bama just hired BOB and Ty has to know Elliott is likely gone this year or next.

True. But if Simpson doesn’t come here there will be fans (some on here) that will use that as an excuse that JH can’t recruit or we made the wrong choice as HC.

So they think because Simpson wanted to play with Weinke as his QB coach then he isn’t very good?

Cool then. That means he will likely commit to us. Especially since Saban and Dabo don’t think much of him and his abilities.
That’s exactly what it means...... For sure.....

We probably slow played Horn too much. Wish we would have focused more on him anyway. Now it seems we could miss on both.
Mizzou is his current trend. Heupel’s past success there could be an in...and with his family’s legacy at UT there’s not much to surmount.

Oh definitely! I guarantee you, if Simpson doesn’t commit to UT, there will be some low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, brainless, dickless, hopeless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey **** that will blame it on JH and say that it proves he sucks and can’t recruit.

Losing Ty hurts from an instate recruiting perspective. Talent-wise I don’t think it’s a big loss. He’s good but there are a lot of good QBs out there to play in our system

That’s a pretty good rationale. I hope that ends up being the case.

Simpson committing elsewhere isn't a reflection on JH, other than he isn't really that exciting a hire. It seems to me to be more of a 'meh' response than a truly 'hell no' response.

If JH can take the time and flip Simpson, that would be a huge feather in his cap. Don't think its possible until the fall, and then only if we put a fast, exciting, productive offense on the field. Even if we lose a lot, I think there is a chance if we look much improved.

I felt like he gave the Vols time to show their hand and when Weinke got canned it sealed our fate. I hope im wrong.
My thinking is completely the opposite. Weinke never developed any of the QB's and I think that would have hurt us. JH has developed QB's and Ty has seen that and was enough for him. Way optimistic, I know, but I have to believe at some point time we can stop getting kicked in the groin.

Don’t forget, we’re probably facing pretty extensive penalties, we probably will have a multi year postseason ban imposed.

Commit to the hometown team, but they have a brand new coach, no coaching staff, and severe recruiting violations on the table, or go to Clemson or Bama and play for championships. Even us fans can see why this is an insanely tough pull for our team...
