'22 TN QB Ty Simpson (Alabama commit)

Ty,

If you read this please consider:

1. The deep tradition of UT Football
2. The players who have cemented their legacy in being Volunteers
3. The fanbase is without doubt, one of the best in the country
4. Be a part of the rebuilding, bring you talent, your drive and be the best at UT

Stay home young man and stamp your legacy with the Proud, Faithful Vol Nation. GBO

Or go where you want to go kid. We will get ours regardless. No matter what state he is from.

Alabama should have Bryce Young, a 5-star RSFR/SO take over next year.
Clemson should have DJ Uiagalelei, a 5-star RSFR/SO take over next year.

Question for Ty is how long does he want to sit and wait at these 2 schools. In addition and surprisingly, the better chance of playing for the same OC may be higher at UT than Alabama or Clemson, especially since Elliott is now looking for a HC position.

You could argue the same point in opposition to us as well. Both Bailey and Salter, regardless of who gets the job and who redshirts, will have exhausted no more than one year of eligibility before Ty comes to campus.

No matter which school he commits to he will have a QB battle on his hand against a young multi-year guy. The only difference is 2 of the 3 are competing for titles and the other is a rebuild. It’s all about what matters more to him.

Both are true freshmen in eligibility.

UT will not hv a chance with Arch. He’ll be the #1 qb in America and will choose a top 3 school

They aren’t even same class so don’t know why this was a topic they are discussing anyway. People get wrapped up in its Peytons nephew like TN will be a big factor. He may be his nephew but it’s Coopers boy. Copper is a rebel through and through that saw his playing career end before it got started. People shouldn’t be surprised if the kid takes that into account and lives out his dads legacy at Ole Miss. LSU wouldn’t be suprising either depending on how that offense is years from now.

Really? Who cares. I’m done

Sab?

Article definitely makes it sound like A&m is a bigger player than most think. I could see it. Doesn’t want to betray VN and go to Bama, but no Clemson because he wants to stay in the SEC. Still, from all reports and videos and family history - this kid wants to be a Vol and simply needs to not be given reasons to say no. Really think Heupel’s resume with QBs is all Ty needed. Vol
This has been Bama, TN, then Clemson from get go. Dont y'all do your homework?

-$9.95

Did AP say anything after the announcement of a commit date? I haven’t seen it and I don’t know if that’s good or bad

On the Locker Room show, he questioned for a moment if he would indeed commit on the 19th or if he'd put it off again. He doesn't think a decision now bodes well of UT.

I could be wrong, but ive gotten impression AP is in a really good spot here in this recruitment.

AP had said for weeks going into the new year "TN is in as good a position as can be expected." Then when Pruitt was fired he changed to say TN has fallen back in this recruitment. So i get the feeling he is communicating with Simpson's dad and has a good feel for where they are leaning. AP hasn't sounded real confident during the last two weeks.

So you are assuming Ty would just walk in here and take the job from Salter or Bailey?

Clemson Update

Based on our conversations with multiple folks surrounding the recruitment, we have strong reason to suggest that the Vols are believed on the outside looking in. The timing of this announcement corroborates that, with Tennessee having only hired new coach Josh Heupel this past week.

We are told that Simpson is not thought to have otherwise finalized his choice yet.

If Bama is indeed the strongest competition as we have been led to think by various sources, then it bears repeating that Simpson has had little more than a couple of weeks to get to know new coordinator Bill O'Brien -- who replaced the Tide assistant with whom he mostly dealt, Steve Sarkisian.

We are inclined to contend relationships matter in this recruitment, and that positions stable Clemson with a decided edge.

yes was my point.

I think Tennessee's stock may have actually gone up for him. He has to know this is a far more advantageous offense to highlight his skills vs the last staff. OTOH it could be pure relationships, but being from a coaching family, surely he realizes that the average coach moves every couple years, so....

We will know on 2/19, but I still have a glimmer of hope.

Unfortunately, i think these decisions for recruits come down to relationships. Simpson simply doesn't know CJH that well, while he's been talking with Saban and Dabo regularly for over a year.

Think Saban and Dabo speak the same QB language?
