'22 TN RB Jordan James (Oregon commit)

I was there in the early 90's.
I remember Ed Booker and that game. Our golf team went to it.
My best friend just married ed's sister we all went to Chugiak High in AK. He was able to reconnect and talk to him a lot about his career.

Honestly outside of Jabari Small, I'm not really sure that there's a RB I want to keep on the roster.

Probably too early to make that judgment, but that's where I'm at. We'll see how they look in the spring.
Small, Wright, and Whitehead all averaged over 5 ypc. You can attribute some of that to competition but even so they're young players. Wright improved all year long and had his best games in the last 3rd of the season. He have averaged over 7 ypc vs UK who had a decent run D.

I'm old enough to remember when UT had Tauren Poole and not much else running the ball. Same with Hardesty.

This year UT had 4 guys with at least 200 yds that averaged over 5 ypc including Evans. The last time UT had more than one guy do that was 2015. There were two- Kamara and Kelly.

There is a lot of promise with these guys.

Looks like he STILL isn't giving Heupel a chance, reaching out, himself, to NC and Florida...looks like he wants to go anywhere but TN. Committed to UGA, got screwed, now hitting up Florida, another bitter rival of his home state school, our school...kid can end up on the sofa for all I care.
We don’t know that he hasn’t approached CJH and TN. As stated by others, it is probably a numbers situation and TN already has 2 other backs signed, so they advised him that he was too late with his interest in TN. Also may be hitting on FL, not to get back at TN, but to shove it in Kirby’s face.

I 100% want this lol.
So you want all of our instate kids exploring other options outside of our state, committing to other schools, and then looking to Tennessee for help as their fallback option when they get screwed over by the prettier girl while we've committed to taking other, perhaps, less talented kids in the meanwhile?

I'd rather make an example of one or two talented kids with a message to future players that you better get on board while the gettin' is good, lest you be left behind and scrambling come mid-December. This train waits for no one...get on, or get outta the way.

Jordan is a great high school RB but I think he is what he’ll be right now. I don’t see a lot of development for him. Looks thick already.

So what they do already, but in your scenario they come to UT.

Yes, I would prefer that.

I like good players coming to UT.

Regret your decision, Cade Mays? Come on down. UGA stopped recruiting you, Tyre? Hop on board young man. You didn't vibe with Saban, Alvin? Let's see if we can get you some touches.

West is from out of state. AK got kicked out of BAMA and came here to play with his best friend whose mom was involved a lot in the program. Mays is a legacy whose father played for the AD, at the time he came back, and had a brother on the team. Being a 2nd choice is a loser mentality and doesnt jive with the attitude of our HC who wouldnt give his alma mater the time of day after they fired him.

Hard times at the Peay during those seasons. All the football guys were great. Fun to be around

None of those examples match the criteria of a kid like Jordan James, who spurned Tennessee for greener pastures and found himself wanting at the end of his initial recruiting cycle. Those are the kids and cases I’m talking about.

If he went to UGA and two years later decided he needed a change of scenery, that’s a different situation than not giving Tennessee the time of day during his recruitment, getting spurned by his preferred choice, and then wanting a spot on the bus at the end of the day in the same cycle. And we’re supposed to bend over backwards to make room, potentially cutting a kid lose to do it? Nah, pass. Choices have consequences. And be sure to tell your friends how fun recruiting is in December being left out in the cold and starting over.

Yeah things may have been different if he was interested 3-4 months ago. UT doesn't spend a spot here IMO. And that's to say if James is even interested in the first place. It makes sense for both parties to just pass here.

IF we have the room, I'm not opposed to taking James. I think we need to make sure all of our holes are filled first (that sounds dirty), but if the room is there, take him. We'll probably know more after the bowl game about who is leaving for the pros and who might hit the portal. We won't cut kids to make room, but those same kids could easily decide to look for more playing time elsewhere.

It'll suck if he ends up with an SEC opponent and becomes a super stud.

You're absolutely right. I don't like to assume and take everything here as pure truth, and I did. We don't know that he didn't reach out to Heupel...not even verified he even talked to Florida, so...yeah, my bad for speaking out of turn.

If true, no UT, reached out to Florida...he can go to Prairie View for all I care.

He rushed for over 200 yards in the state championship against the Kroger twins.

Yeah, and I said in the very first sentence he was a great high school RB. Did you see that? I just dont see significant quickness or breakaway speed from him for success at the college level and he's a big back for a hs player, but not for SEC.

That said, Williamson County teams are not known for their physicality. They can move the ball on anyone and can play pressure defense sometimes, but they cant stand up to a real physcial team that lines up and punishes people.

I saw your first sentence, but I would never assume a player has maxed out their potential until I see substantial evidence of such. You don't have to have breakaway speed to be a major threat in college football. See....Mark Ingraham, Benny Snell Jr.

The successful coaches have that ability to see a high school kid and how they transition into college. The games are completely different. Every coach makes mistakes but the successful ones hit on alot more than they miss on.

If GA believed he was a difference maker they would have room for him. He is a good RB but when I watch his film and the 2 guys we have I see no difference. We turned down a good WR who signed with GA because of numbers ourselves so I do not believe we take a 3rd freshman RB. In CHRIST Alone
