TN vs OKC

Good season by the girls. Got a bad matchup with ou--wouldn't be surprised if they won it all.

That being said the coaching staff didn't give the seniors a chance to go out on top with the situation in the pitching staff.

That's the question going forward. What can gabriel realistically do for this team going forward. You might see some clues when transfers announce after the season is over.

I'd be surprised if OU made it past Bama

Yes, sorry--that was game two in that CWS that we could have/should have won.

We've lost some incredible college players the last two years in Chavanne, Gibson, Shipman, Davin and the Renfroes. I was so hoping we could win it all last year--that first game loss to ou after finally grabbing a 3-0 lead and needing only three outs was an absolute killer. One of the worst UT losses in /any sport/ since I've been a Vol fan.

I love the Weeklys, they've been great, but I do not understand why the incoming class does not have a pitcher. That's correct, yes--no pitcher? We now have one true pitcher on the team--and she has not pitched much.

good season girls but we need that title or just settle for permanent mediocrity. Which can be blamed on the coaches who recruit the players and the game decisions they make.

That is just silly. There are many, many programs who would love the record of our program over the last decade. It is amazing that we have made two finals. I know people are frustrated about not having a championship, but UT is a national powerhouse. 6-0 in super regionals before this year, considering just the recent popularity is incredible. Unfortunately, success breeds expectations, and fans lose sight of the big picture.

Obama's pretty stout...has an athletic advantage with that Secret Service detail.

Hope the SS has stepped their game up since W was prez. The media regularly kick their butts in pick up games at Getterman Stadium when W would visit Crawford. Oh, I've also seen Obama throw (lol) a baseball.

Agreed. We need more good pitching. Not just one but several. You can't expect one to carry the load every game. That has been our downfall. We need more quality pitching.

one head coach -- say goodbye to 'no personality', Ralph and let Karen run the team

Apparently the Weekleys would not allow Davin to transfer per her dad.

shut up you bunch of negative nellies!

you make me want to puke!

I agree. I mean winning 2 of 3 at OU would be impossible for just about any team this year. I think we got somewhat screwed with the seeding. The late season series loss to MSU seemed to hurt us more than Bama because Bama's series was a little earlier. UGA was somewhat overrated the whole season. UT, BAMA, and Florida should have been the super regionals. If Baylor had come to Knoxville we would have beat them.

after her sophomore season....... I have a lot to say.... but can't.... I will leave it at that... we got 6 months to graduation....

Thank You... The University of Tennessee, Our Teammates, The Families of the players.... and VolNation.

It definitely did not end the way we had hoped.... I have shed a few tears.... I can say without hesitation that Melissa gave her all every day for the University of Tennessee.... she is and always will be a VFL.... so very proud of everything she has done on and off the field and for everything that she has had to overcome to get where she is today...

Thanks again and Good Bye!

I thought we got screwed with the seeding, too, but the Vols were a little shaky down the stretch of the season. The hitting fell off and Renfroe seemed to lose some effectiveness; she was getting hit more. Maybe it was fatigue--mental and/or physical. I didn't think any team would be demonstrably better than the Vols, but ou was. Renfroe got knocked around pretty good in two of the games--and our hitting was anemic: 3 hits today compared to 13 for ou. That's lopsided. We only got 3 hits in last night's win (ou had 5). When I first saw the ou pitcher, I thought she was very hittable but that proved not to be the case. On to next year.

Does this mean that the Weekly's aren't as nice as we think? I

P.S. I'm glad Melissa didn't transfer because she has always been so clutch for the Vols. They could not have been nearly as successful without her bat. Thanks for sharing her with Vol Nation.

She's been part of a very successful program. Had two to three very productive years. Went to the WCWS twice. Pretty successful college career. I'm sorry she wanted to transfer. I know being a successful women's college coach must be a very difficult balancing act with all the different personalities and desires. They recruit a bunch of great atheletes who sometimes don't always adjust to the roles the coaches want for them. I think the Weekley's do a good job with that.

I don't know Melissa personally but she has to be a wonderful person. I watched the YouTube video about Averie the other day. Heart warming. I think that little girl will keep ties here for her.

I look forward to addressing this in my future... post graduation posts. as I mentioned... I have a lot to say but choose not to discuss much in any great detail at this time....

Mediocrity at the University of Tennessee is anything short of not winning the National Championship in any sport played at the University of Tennessee. Sec championships are an accomplishment but if you win more than one of these it is still mediocrity unless you win the national championship that season. Many great seasons in a row in any sport will make you know in tis country but without that national title you are just above average.
