'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Alabama commit)

Did you guys see this? Saban's "system" WR and "gimmick" offense negative recruiting is getting exposed. #88,955

right? Wait until he sees that Alabama offense led by the great OC that is Tommy Rees and QB Tyler Buchner or Ty Simpson. Hell they might be the ones that need a gimmick lol

But really, I don’t care where this kid goes. We are doing damn good at WR and will as long as this staff is around.

I'd love to have this guy and maybe I'm wrong, but to me he's pretty consistently given off the impression that he was trying to go anywhere but UT.

I think he's given us a fair shot, and I know he was a baseball commit for a time, but he's very much so struck me as a "get out of the state" guy for a while now.

Lol “anywhere but UT” like Bama is just some other program. This is a weird post

All I’m gonna say is it’ll be funny if saban has retired by Jefferson’s junior year meanwhile we will have put 5-8 receivers into the NFL between now and then. And that might be a conservative number.

Exactly...I said it earlier but I just don't sweat losing a skill player in recruiting...this offense will take care of that regardless of who we land...and we will land more than our share of high level skill players anyway so IMO it's a moot point...

I sweat losing the big time linemen...that's why today is such a big win for us with Warren....hopefully we get at least 2 out of 4 between Franklin, Williams, Okoye and Ross...that would be a legit haul for both sides of the LOS if we finish off the DL like that

I get your point. I guess all I'm saying is he committed to the baseball team, started looking around at football programs, and my impression is we've been playing catch up in the recruitment ever since. If his goal went from playing baseball to playing both sports, it's just seemed odd to me that we've not been able to pull away given the quality of both of our programs (and the fact Bama just fired their baseball coach in a gambling scandal). I'm not questioning that Bama is a high quality football team. I've just wondered if he has an innate desire to get out of east Tennessee for college.

All a football decision and his family thinks Saban (who is 71 btw) will prepare him better. Bama has started to decline on the field. I never thought I would see a Saban team field a defense like last season.

A touch hasty to claim their downfall based on just last season…..when they went 11-2. Played in NC game year before last. Won it all the year before that.

Now once Saban dips out, absolutely

Maybe. Defense is Saban’s forte though. It looked like crap last season particularly the secondary.

Idk man. I think your opinion is swayed by our offensive genius HC’s scheme and some historic performances from Vols vs that D.

They gave up 18.2 ppg (good for 10th in the country and 2nd in SEC) and specifically to look at secondary 187.8 pass ypg (17th in country, 3rd in SEC behind A&M and UK and much better than UGA who was 54th in country).

I know a lot discount baseball, but he’s been invited to and has played well in a number of invitational only showcases. MLB scouts are interested in him. If he has a great senior year, he may be drafted high enough to where he’ll never set foot on a college football field.

Exactly. If he really wanted a spot in this class, he'd be committed by now especially considering the WR spots dwindling and a guy like Wingo...well...in the wings so to speak. Kid is a bama guy. Pretty obvious.

Ain't nothing wrong with that. Now if I was itching to get out of the state Alabama would not be at the top of the list but good luck to the kid. Let's go get the blue chipper from Mizzou.

QBs who have won a natty under Saban,,,,McElroy, McCarron (twice), Coker, Hurts/Tagovaiola, and Mac Jones. Saban obviously doesn't need great QBs to win national championships. FWIW, Bryce Young never won one.

From what I’ve heard, and you may have heard similar things, it seems the “negative” recruiting about Heupel’s offense worked here. I’m not sure why, give the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner is from Tennessee. However, the comments I’ve heard were Alabama’s offense was more of a pro style and would prepare players for the NFL better than Tennessee’s system.

Aren’t several of those QBs playing in the NFL and you say they weren’t great? Do explain.

Watch the interview AP had with Warren on his commitment starting around the 1:50 to the 2:10 mark. Did he let the cat out of the bag with Jefferson?

Good grief. Some of you guys are absolutely ridiculous. Warren didn't mention Amari Jefferson at all. AP asked a question about Boo Carter connecting well with all the recruits, and AP actually referenced Amari Jefferson's name amongst many others players. Your interpretation of that is that AP let the cat out of the bag with Jefferson? Get real.

I think the poster was saying since AP mentioned several Vol commits, then Amari Jefferson, it could be implied that he was also a commit. Guess we’ll know in 5 days

Well, in the video clip from this morning posted in the Kamarion Franklin thread, AP says more than once that he currently considers Amari Jefferson to be an Alabama lean. I'm cross-posting it here.

When he won with McElroy, McCarron and that ilk, Tenn and Georgia were different programs than at the present..

I am not predicting him to go elsewhere but am prepared for that. The win today more than offsets the loss of a WR with what we have and Wingo in the wings. Not a clue how many more we can add this cycle. Love to have him but like every player they get to sequence and weight all the factors on the table and they are what they are.
