'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Alabama commit)

Some go to JUCO and then can be drafted after the first year. Bryce Harper reclassified as a high school junior after earning his GED, so he could attend JUCO and be eligible for the draft in what would have been his senior year.
Yep. It’s the baseball one that gets me. I forget every single time.

Saban is still considered the GOAT among football coaches by most people. It's hard to be mad at a kid or his family for being star struck if he showered him with attention, and made him feel like their top priority at his position. We've had one year of the type of success that grabbed everyone's attention. We still have our detractors in local and national media saying "that was our lightning in a bottle season", or "it's a gimmick offense that doesn't translate to the NFL". We just have to continue to light it up consistently and prove we belong in the conversations with Georgia, Bama, Ohio St, etc. The expanded playoffs and new NCAA football video game will help in those efforts. Also, our players being productive in the NFL.

It was more than likely that incident you talked about that sealed our fate.

And again I emphasize, this is not even close to being a big deal lol. Got idiots on here getting mad at Bama. Why lol? Now if they took Warren or Peyton Lewis from us, then yeah! That deserves some angst! But this?? People just want to cry.

Loosing Sammy Brown to Clemson, and Bates to LSU hurt.

Have people even asked "when would Jefferson even play if he came to Knoxville??"
While Bama needs him right now.
Just like we needed Arion Carter this season coming up for our LBs

In high school, football gets you all the attention and recognition locally and from your peers. High school girls acknowledge football and basketball players. I'm not saying that's his motivation, just stating that 17yo boys don't usually see the long-term big picture. If I had the foresight back then, I definitely would have chosen my baseball offers over football. And...it should be obvious how much I love the game of football.

Or Golf, Four days a week doing something you love, , in the best locations In the world, treated like royalty and the possibility of making millions per weekend. Stress free living and easy on the frame : Fred Couples style!

Have you considered that you’re just not that attractive and that’s why girls didn’t acknowledge you more when playing baseball?

I know baseball is a lot harder to make the bigs. Ive just never understood why anyone with ability to play multiple professional sports would choose football.

Baseball salaries are massive, toll exacted on one's body is much less, and you get paid year round.

Ok @LittleVol and @BIGORANGENATION before you hop in here...knowing it all.View attachment 568164

Have to live through years of minor league ball unless you throw 100mph or are a phenom.

I think Jefferson would have been a good fit with Tennessee, if he wanted to be here. We'll just have to make do with someone else. Maybe there's another player half as good out there.

More important to keep a kid instate or go to Missouri and take their top player...

If you had to choose one...

I mean c'mon.

Your instate argument is just plain ridiculous. It's time to put it on a shelf.
Seems to be working out well.

A bit premature to say this. Even if Wingo commits earlier than originally planned, if he still takes OV to Neyland during season…..
As a Tennessee fan…. I have learned to talk trash early bc you may not be able too later. 🤣 if he commits to Mizzou…. It is to get paid now…. Doubt he can switch schools after coming to that NIL agreement.

Done some reading today about this MO law. Everything I've read says they can't start collecting until NLI is signed. Not just financial papers

Why would you THINK that. I seem to remember one of the first BIGTIME NIL guys signing with OSU then transferring to Texas after the first year. Is that fuzzy memory?

Quinn Ewers big NIL deal was with an autograph/card company that wasn’t tied to any school.

That doesn’t seem accurate…. It looks they are trying to move up their commitment dates so they can start earning earlier.
