It was more than likely that incident you talked about that sealed our fate.Saban is still considered the GOAT among football coaches by most people. It's hard to be mad at a kid or his family for being star struck if he showered him with attention, and made him feel like their top priority at his position. We've had one year of the type of success that grabbed everyone's attention. We still have our detractors in local and national media saying "that was our lightning in a bottle season", or "it's a gimmick offense that doesn't translate to the NFL". We just have to continue to light it up consistently and prove we belong in the conversations with Georgia, Bama, Ohio St, etc. The expanded playoffs and new NCAA football video game will help in those efforts. Also, our players being productive in the NFL.
In high school, football gets you all the attention and recognition locally and from your peers. High school girls acknowledge football and basketball players. I'm not saying that's his motivation, just stating that 17yo boys don't usually see the long-term big picture. If I had the foresight back then, I definitely would have chosen my baseball offers over football. And...it should be obvious how much I love the game of football.

I know baseball is a lot harder to make the bigs. Ive just never understood why anyone with ability to play multiple professional sports would choose football.
Baseball salaries are massive, toll exacted on one's body is much less, and you get paid year round.
Ok @LittleVol and @BIGORANGENATION before you hop in here...knowing it all.View attachment 568164

And again I emphasize, this is not even close to being a big deal lol. Got idiots on here getting mad at Bama. Why lol? Now if they took Warren or Peyton Lewis from us, then yeah! That deserves some angst! But this?? People just want to cry.
Loosing Sammy Brown to Clemson, and Bates to LSU hurt.
Have people even asked "when would Jefferson even play if he came to Knoxville??"
While Bama needs him right now.
Just like we needed Arion Carter this season coming up for our LBs
As a Tennessee fan…. I have learned to talk trash early bc you may not be able too later. if he commits to Mizzou…. It is to get paid now…. Doubt he can switch schools after coming to that NIL agreement.A bit premature to say this. Even if Wingo commits earlier than originally planned, if he still takes OV to Neyland during season…..
Done some reading today about this MO law. Everything I've read says they can't start collecting until NLI is signed. Not just financial papersAs a Tennessee fan…. I just don’t see how that can work with the rule that schools can’t be involved. Here is a screen shot from the article that discusses it. View attachment 570289View attachment 570290
This goes against everything I’ve heard from large college football journalists. They will start earning nil once they are committed to play for the tigers. Here is a screen shot from the article that discusses it. View attachment 570289View attachment 570290
